Chapter 8

Brother

One week later...

         As Derek and I walk through the forest I catch an unfamiliar scent. I stop walking and look around for anything but see nothing. "It's probably just a drunk teenager." Derek says as he looks at me. When I look into his eyes my worry disappears and I relax. "Yeah, you're probably right." I say with a sigh and we continue walking.

         Eventually, we stop at a lake and I see something very familiar on its bank. "Huh, this reminds me of a lot of things." I tell Derek as I stare at the purple flower. I see Derek smile a little out of the corner of my eye and I can't help but smile either. We both then sit down but far away from the wolfsbane.

           As I sit there staring into the lake, I can't help but think about something. "Derek," I say and he looks at me waiting for me to continue. "Have you ever thought of what would have happened if I never became a werewolf?" I ask and Derek seems taken back by my question.

         "I mean if I never wondered into the woods that day, would I have met you? Would my mom be alive? Would I know about werewolves?" I say and Derek just stares at me with sad eyes. "Malena are you saying that you wish you weren't a werewolf?" Derek finally asks me and I can't answer him because I don't have an answer.   

         Suddenly, that scent from earlier fills my nose and I turn around to see a figure. Derek and I both stand up from our spots and stare at the figure. The figure walks towards us and I can finally see their face. It's a guy that looks to be around Derek's age. He is tall, muscular, has brown spiked up hair, and bright, blue eyes like mine. And he wears clothes that are little similar to Derek's but brighter colors.

         "Who are you?" I ask him calmly hoping he's not going to be a threat. I watch as the guy glances at Derek before looking at me. "I'm Adam Anderson." He answers. "Anderson?" Derek mumbles to himself and I look at him. "I'm your brother, well half-brother." Adam adds and my eyes widen in shock.

         "Brother?!" I exclaim and Adam nods with a smirk. "Yes, our so called father had a one nighter  with my mom before he married your mom." He says with a little eye roll when he talks about dad. "Does he know about you?" I ask and Adam nods. "Yes and also yes I know about werewolves and you and your mate being ones too." Adam says and I stiffen a little when he says werewolves.

         "Did he try and train you to be a hunter?" Derek asks and Adam nods. "Yeah but he failed." Adam says with a snort and a little chuckle. "How did you find me?" I ask and Adam sends me a small smile. "Dad told me you lived in Beacon Hills and showed me a picture of you. And I figured I would find you in the forest and after about three days I see a girl that looks just like the girl in the picture. Malena my younger half-sister." He answers and I carefully listen to his heart to make sure he's not lying.

         Adam then looks at Derek before he speaks again. "So what's your name?" He asks my mate who finally turns his gaze away from me to him. "Derek Hale." He answers bluntly like he could care less about my, apparently, brother. I nudge him with my elbow at his rudeness and Derek just ignores me. "Your one of the famous Hales, wow." Adam says with a little smile.

          After about an hour later Adam and I have opened up to each other. I told him about everything that has happened to me in the past and how I became a werewolf. And Adam told me how his mom had died and how my dad had to take care of him until me moved out when he was eighteen. Also Derek seemed to become comfortable and also joined in on our conversations instead of staying quiet.

         Then I finally ask the question I know Derek has been wanting me to ask him. "Adam, why are you here?" I ask and Adam frowns with a sigh. "I was hoping I wouldn't have to tell you this until later." Adam pauses and I look at him with a worried expression. "One the reasons why I came here is because I wanted to meet you. But the main reason why is that, Dad has assigned two very professional hunters to come and kill Derek." Adam says and I instantly growl and my eyes flash.

         Adam jumps slightly but soon realizes I'm not growl at him. As I try to calm down Derek asks him a question. "What is the name of these hunters?" Adam looks at him and then at me before he answers. "Have you heard of the Winchesters?" Adam asks and Derek quickly stiffens up at the name. "Yes." Derek mumbles as he tries to hold down the shift.

         "Who are the Winchesters?" I ask once I have calmed Derek down. "The Winchesters are the best hunters we have ever seen and they kill every monster they see with no code or rules. Their names are Dean and Sam Winchester." Adam tells me fear soon fills me and I can't say anything out of my shock.

         "When will they be here?" Derek asks and Adam looks at both of us with sadness in his eyes. "Tomorrow." Adam mumbles and I instantly lean into Derek. Derek wraps his arms around me and we sit there in silence. I thought everything was going back to normal. But what's normal in this world? I guess normal is having your life on the line for your whole life, when you're pulled into this supernatural life. 

BOOM! I brought in some Supernatural characters into the story. If you noticed I took out Vampire Diares out of the title and changed the description because of this. I hope like this new plot twist into this story and I hopefully don't take as long to write chapter 9.
