Here I am running through a forest with 10 people hot on my heels. There's nowhere to go, nowhere to hide. I couldn't lose the people behind me. I was coming up to a dead end. This was it, I was a goner. I ran up to a locked door. I was slamming my fists against it hoping the door would open.

I was suddenly crying out of frustration. The crowd was coming at me in slow motion, still no time to run. As soon as I heard the cannon I woke up. I didn't just wake up, I jolted up. I was screaming and crying. I didn't know where I was, I was debilitated from this dream. I was all alone in my small room.

I sat there in my bed, back against the wall, shaking. I was fully awake now, I was in my room. I was no longer in that arena, waiting to die. I dragged myself out of bed and to the shower. The cold shower made me cool off. The shaking continued, the crying did too. I dropped down, holding my knees to my chest.

I rested my head on my kneecaps only to fall asleep. I woke up all alone in the bathroom. I picked myself up, not wanting to leave the bathroom. I knew I would have to at some point in time.

I slowly got dressed into my everyday attire. I didn't even feel safe here. If the Capital wanted to put in me in another arena they could. No one would stop them, they couldn't be stopped. It started to pour so I sat in the doorway watching the rain. I leaned my head against the hardwood. The rain so was calming.

I got up off the ground and walked into the rain. The droplets were slightly hitting my skin. The coldness brought me back to reality. I wasn't wearing any shoes. I wiggled my toes as I stood in the wet grass. Was I ever going to get out of this funk? Was it even possible at this point?

I looked across from me to see Finnick, my best friend, standing on his porch. He walked over to me as I did the same. I latched tightly onto him. I felt safe with him. I had always felt safe with him no matter what. In the arena he was my only hope. He protected me when I needed it which not often.

He was always there no matter what. He looked like he had a bad night too. His golden hair was ruffled messily. There were bags under his perfect eyes. I softly asked,

"Can I stay over at your house for the night?"

"Of course. Stay as long as you need. Have you eaten today?" I shook my head.

He offered me food but I declined. I had no appetite, how could I? The night rolled around fast. I started off in a separate room, I couldn't get comfortable. I stood up and shuffled over to Finnick's room. I slowly opened the unclosed door. He was sitting up on the side of his bed.

I quietly asked,

"Fin, you ok?"

"Yeah, just can't sleep."

"You want me to stay here?"

"Could you?" I nodded walking over to the bed.

I stretched out as he did the same. He mumbled, "You're safe now, they can't touch you." I exhaled in relief but that didn't fully calm me down. They can't touch me anymore, or so I thought.
