-------------------------------------------------------------------

I met Bruce Banner at a convention years ago. Somehow we managed to stay in touch even through everything. I would consider him one of my good friends.

He was the one who set me up on this blind date tonight. All he told me about her was that she was a lawyer and his cousin. I knew the date would go fine. Bruce wouldn't set me up with just anyone. He knows I don't like to waste my time.

So here I stood in front of the mirror. I had changed my shirt 3 times before settling on the blue one. I glanced at my watch, realizing that if I didn't leave now, I'd be late. I hurried into my shoes on my way out the door.

Lucky for me the restaurant was only down the street from me. It was a cute little Chinese place. The food is always so good. I chose it since she's never been there before.

The waitress sat me down at a table next to the window. I ordered a drink as I looked through the menu. It felt like forever that I was waiting for her. Did she get lost? Did she change her mind?

I quickly texted her asking if she was coming. I put my phone down on the table, waiting for it bing. I tried not to keep glancing at it. I tried to busy myself with reading the entire menu. I sighed once I finished reading the menu. Something was definetly wrong.

I waited a half hour in total for her. Just as I stood up to leave, the waitress walked over. "And here is your table. I'll come back around in a moment to get your orders." She walked away leaving my date, Jen, and I awkwardly standing there.

Jen was wearing a beautiful red dress and her hair was somehow tied back. She looked...stunning. Thank you Bruce. I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out.

"I am so sorry I'm late. My phone died on the way over here then I went to wrong resturant. Of course there was traffic on the street I took," she sighed as she rubbed her forehead.

"It's okay. You're here now."

"Finally," she smiled as she nervously sat down.

I settled back into my chair. She scanned the menu as she took a sip of her water.

"So, Bruce said that you guys met at a convention a few years ago?"

"Yeah I went to see one of his presenatations, then I got to talk to him after. We managed to stay friends. You're his cousin, right?"

"Unforuntely. I'm kidding. He's really great. He helped me a lot with...everything. But he's said great things about you."

"He's said great things about you too. He left out the fact that you're really pretty."

"Oh, thank you," she smiled. "Y-you're pretty too. I mean-you know what I mean."

"I do," I laughed.

The waitress came back around to take our orders. We both didn't realize how packed this place had gotten. We were too wrapped up talking to each other.

The conversation flowed easily for the rest of dinner. It felt like we have known each other forever. Before dinner we breiefly texted just to kind introduce each other and figure out where to eat. We both wanted to save the conversation for face to face. I'm really glad we did that.

I set down on my drink on the table, not realizing the table was a little uneven. My drink spilled on the entire table. My eyes widened as I hurried to grab the glass. We both threw napkins on the table, trying to stop the water from falling to the ground.

"Did any get on you," I asked.

"A little but it's okay. It's only water."

"I'm so sorry. I didn't know the table was uneven."

"It's totally fine," she assured as she finished cleaning up.

Luckily a waitress came around to help us out. Dinner was a little quiet after that. It wasn't an awkward silence though. It was comfortable. At least, for me it was.

Once the bill was paid, I followed her outside.

"Did you drive here or walk," I asked.

"I drove here."

"Right, you said that."

"I'm really sorry about being late. I mean what are the odds of my phone being dead."

"It usually is when you need it. I'm sorry about spilling my drink on you."

"It's totally fine. Like I said, it was only water. Other than the small bumps, I had a good time. It's been forever since I've been on a date."

"Me too. I'm glad Bruce set us up."

"I'll have to thank him the next time I see him."

"So...is there going to be another date?"

"You bet there is," she smiled.
