Kie pulled up to my house after a girl's day. It had been a long week with losing my job and all. "Thanks for today," I smiled as I closed the car door. "Anything for my best friend," she smirked as I started to walk away. I glanced down at my phone. I hadn't heard from JJ all day. It was beyond weird.

Usually he sends me cheesy texts throughout the day. I dialed his number on the way into my house. I furrowed my eyebrows when I reached the door. I could hear the ringtone he has for me coming from inside. He didn't tell me he was stopping by. I slipped my shoes off after I hung my bag up by the front door. "JJ," I called out into the house.

"In here," my mom called back from the kitchen. I smiled thinking he came over to spend time with my parents. My smile quickly faded when I walked into the kitchen. My mom sat at the table as my dad leaned against the counter. They didn't have a happy look on their faces. "Where's JJ?" As soon as I asked that, he walked out of the bathroom.

When he walked into the light, my jaw dropped. His face was covered in bruises and his lip was cut pretty badly. Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at him. I engulfed him into a tight hug. "I-I thought you would be home," he mumbled in a shaky voice. "Your dad, wasn't it?" I whispered for only him to hear.

All he did was nod. I rubbed his back as we stood there for a second. "I can't take it anymore. I can't," he sobbed. "Don't worry about him right now. Let's worry about you, ok?" I pulled away from him to get a better look at his face.

His lip would heal on its own. I knew his face would be swollen in the morning. "Let's put some ice on this," I softly offered. He nodded as he closely followed me to the freezer. He didn't let go of me as we walked. I made 2 bags of ice for him to apply. I didn't even know if it would help him. "We're going to go lay down," I mumbled as we walked out of the room.

I was trying to keep it together for him. Seeing him like this hurts me more than anything. He sat down on my bed as I changed into my pajamas. I turned the lights off to crawl into bed with him. He threw the ice packs over the side of the bed. I held out my arms for him. He laid down between my legs.

"How about we watch Step Brothers?" He nodded as he got comfy. The way he kept fidgeting, led me to believe he had more on his mind. I began playing with his hair to hopefully relieve some tension. I sat up to wrap my arms around his bare shoulders. "You know what I was thinking about?""Hm?""Us moving into a giant house far from here. Maybe have a few horses or pigs or something. We'll have a bunch of kids. The pogues will stay with us for the holidays and over the summer with their kids. Everything is going to be perfect. We are going to get out of here, JJ. I promise you that." "If I didn't have you guys, I don't know what I'd do. If I didn't have you, I think I'd go insane.""You are already insane, baby." He laughed as he leaned back to look at me. We looked into each other's eyes for a second. "I love you.""I love you more."
