Pairings- Alfie Solomons x Shelby!reader
Summary- Alfie and the reader have been sneaking around for weeks. Tommy finally finds out.
Warnings- swearing and a little bit of violence
I've always been full of bad ideas. Jumping in front of bullets and stealing things. My latest one is sneaking around with the leader of a rival gang. I'm not sure if that falls under the bad category yet. No one seems to suspect a thing. I know it's going to be on Tommy's list of my dumb ideas. I met Alfie Solomons 2 weeks ago on a business trip, days after I was nearly killed by Sabini's men.
He was able to look through my cut and bruised face. There was an instant click between us. Sure, there was bickering while the deal was being made. I guess it's all a part of the job. To officially seal the deal, we went out for drinks. It was full of laughter and sarcastic remarks. It was perfect.
The next 2 weeks were filled with late night phone calls and letters. I walked into the betting shop early in the morning. Tommy was smoking as he looked at one of the books. "Are you ready to go?" I asked as I shoved my hands in my pockets. I wanted to seem as normal as possible. He closed the book as he looked up at me.
The ride was never ending. I hated being in the car for this long. When we pulled up, I practically jumped out of the car before it stopped moving. Tommy glanced over at me. "I have to pee," I mumbled as we walked down the dock. I made my way towards the bathroom to fix myself up.
I had bags under my eyes and a pale complexion. A shower would be nice right about now. I sighed as I walked out of the bathroom. I made my way up to Alfie's office. I smiled when I heard his loud voice. I pushed my way through the line as he was calling men into his office. "Next lad," he yelled as I walked in.
I smirked as I stood in front of his desk as he looked down. I admired him for a second. He stroked his bear as he looked down at the book in front of him. He put his glasses up to his eyes. He still had no idea it was me standing there.
"Name?"
"(Y/N) Shelby." He snapped his head up to look at me.
A wide smile grew on his face.
"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes? How are you, love?"
"I could be better. I sat in the car for a long time. What about you, bear?"
"Eager to get the bullshit over. How about we go to dinner when this is over?"
"I'd love that. Now get back to work Mr. Solomons."
"Sit, I'll have Olly bring you some tea." He motioned to the old leather sofa in the corner of his office.
I sighed in relief as I sat down. Olly went off to get me that much needed cup . "Next lad," Alfie harshly shouted. I loved the way his voice would be soft with me and harsh with everyone else. It had been like that from the very beginning. It made me feel special.
An older man stood in front of his desk.
"Name?"
"Buddy Halls."
"Position?"
"Baker." Alfie tossed down a piece of paper at the man.
"Good lad, fill it out and fuck off." An apron was thrown at him. Halls looked down at it with furrowed eyebrows as he walked off. When all the papers and aprons were passed out, we all gathered in the main room. Alfie and I stood off to the side as Tommy was standing front and center. He was doing all the talking after all.
"Alright. All of you are now bakers. If anyone does ask, you're bakers. The police on this side are on our side. If you go to the north or south, you'll need to show them your paper. If they ask, you're here to find work. We are still looking for lodging right now. So you'll sleep here in the bakery. Don't touch anything, it will probably explode. Now, any questions?"
Halls who was in the front row raised his hand. "Where is that pretty lady staying? I think we are all wondering." He earned a few laughs and smirks from the others. Alfie's body tightened as he smirked over at us. Alfie started to walk over to him. Oh no, he's going to give us away.
"That pretty lady right there made this all happen. That pretty lady gave 100 of you jobs, yeah?" He said as he made his way over to the Halls. He stood in front of him for a moment. He slammed a crowbar into his head. Tommy turned to look at me with a confused expression. I didn't look at him, I couldn't.
Alfie overlooked the crowd.
"He'll wake up. He probably won't have any teeth left though. Now, there are fucking rules here for a fucking reason. They have to be followed. Number one, the distinction between bread and rum is not discussed. Number 2, anything that your superior officers fucking say to you is not discuessed! Number 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, so on, you do not go anywhere near that woman." He turned to look back at me.
His face softened a little. I shook my head as he turned around. "That woman right there is mine, got it? If I see any of you disgusting men even look at her, you will end up like that bitch. That is if she doesn't kill you herself." He looked over at the head baker, Billy, then to the man off the floor then to Tommy.
"That's it, sorry if I interrupted. Anything to add?" Tommy shook his head before nodding to Billy. Billy ordered his men out of the room. They scrambled out of there as fast as they could. No one wanted to feel the wrath of Alfie Solomons. The 3 of us made our way back to Alfie's office.
"Have I made Alfie Solomons go soft," I laughed as we walked back to his office. He playfully rolled his eyes as we walked along. When we got into Alfie's office, Tommy slammed the door behind him. He rubbed his temples as he looked at the ground.
"How long," he shouted.
