Ananya stood frozen, her eyes wide with shock as she witnessed Dev's swift and lethal action. The ground seemed to sway beneath her feet, her mind struggling to process the surreal scene unfolding before her. Her heart pounded fiercely against her chest, and her entire body felt chilled, as if plunged into an icy abyss. She took involuntary steps backward, fear gripping her tightly, while Dev approached with measured steps, his expression a mix of determination and concern, aiming to explain the unexpected turn of events.

With a steadying breath, Dev gently reached out and clasped Ananya's trembling hand. She recoiled at first but found herself leaning into his touch, seeking reassurance amidst the turmoil within her. Without a word, Dev guided her towards the waiting car, his movements calm yet purposeful, and carefully settled her into the passenger seat before taking the driver's seat himself.

Back at their home, Karuna Ji was engrossed in reviewing files when the doorbell rang, startling her. A maid opened the door to find Dev carrying Ananya, who appeared pale and unconscious. Karuna's heart leaped in alarm as she rushed forward, her maternal instincts instantly on high alert.

Dev swiftly carried Ananya to their bedroom, laying her gently on the bed. He fetched a glass of water and sprinkled a few drops on her face, hoping to rouse her, but she remained unresponsive, lost in the depths of unconsciousness. With a sigh of concern, Dev settled on the edge of the bed, his brow furrowed in worry, while Karuna hovered nearby, her face etched with concern and worry lines deepening.

Karuna's voice trembled slightly as she implored, "Please, Dev, tell me what happened. You both were supposed to be out for dinner, weren't you?"

Dev's gaze was steely as he responded, his fingers idly tracing the edge of a nearby fruit basket knife, "Yes, we were on our way to dinner when Sid called with urgent news."

Karuna worry deepened. "Dev, how many times have I pleaded with you not to get involved in these matters?"

A shadow passed over Dev's features, his voice tinged with a hint of danger as he replied, "Ma, you know I don't tolerate betrayal. It's better not to dwell on this. It's how things are in my world. Now, please, go rest. I'll take care of Ananya."

Reluctantly nodding, Karuna Ji retreated to her own room, her heart heavy with concern for both her son and Ananya.

Meanwhile, Ananya stirred on the bed, her eyelids fluttering open as consciousness slowly returned. She found herself staring into Dev's intense gaze, causing her to flinch instinctively. He reached out to cradle her face gently, his touch surprisingly tender despite the gravity of recent events.

"Dev..." Ananya's voice quivered with fear, her thoughts a whirlwind of confusion and disbelief.

Dev held her hands firmly, his voice calm yet firm, "Ananya, relaxed. You have nothing to fear from me. What happened was necessary for those who betrayed me. You are safe."

Ananya pleaded softly, still shaken, "But... you... you killed him. I want to leave... go back to my mom."

Cupping her face, Dev brushed a strand of hair away and murmured reassuringly, "I've told you not to dwell on that. In my business, those who betray me face consequences."

His grip on her chin tightened slightly, his tone unwavering, "And don't even think about leaving. Understand?"

Ananya nodded silently, her fear palpable as she struggled to comprehend the intensity of the situation.

With a tender kiss on her forehead, Dev's demeanor softened, a small smile playing on his lips as he sensed her tension easing.

"Stop being afraid now. Rest," he said gently, his hand lingering on hers before he withdrew to give her space.
