IMMORAL | LISRENE

Chapter 6

Irene lied when she said she have unread books that she has to finish, as a matter of fact she finished it all even the book that Lisa recommended to her. The bookstore is close every Sunday and she only read books to spend her boring day with.

"It is time to learn archery" said Irene and changed her clothes on a proper attire. She went out on her room and heard a loud laugh at the veranda.

"Are you ill?" asked her sister "I am utterly confuse to see you dressed like that"

"I see, your painting again" said Irene and observed her sister thoroughly.

"Yes, this is how I spend my time" replied Suzy "Now answer my question, what is the occasion that made you wear that outfit?"

"I have no books to read since I did not visit the bookstore yesterday, so I figured it is time for me to learn archery"

"Off you go then" said Suzy and giggled "I just wish that you play on the back part of the mansion, since I still wish to live a pleasant life"

Irene scoffed and walked away stamping her feet. 'I do not think I am that terrible in archery' she thought.

She politely asked the servants to prepare the kit that she needed and instructed them to put it on the opposite side of the mansion just like Suzy requested. While the servants prepared everything she went back inside the house to ask her father to teacher her, but she was surprised on what appeared in front of her.

"Jennie, what brings you here?" asked Irene as she gestured Jennie to sit on the chair.

"These past few days have been bothering me. Not that I envy it, but I am disappointed that you would rather talk to my sister about your troubles than me who is your dear friend" explained Jennie "Tell me, what trouble I did so I can correct my mistakes"

"It is not you but rather me Jennie" cried Irene "By the recent happenings, I feel like I have to distance myself"

"What recent happenings do you mean?" asked Jennie.

"I cannot tell, I am in fear you would judge me"

"I will never do such thing Irene, you know me better than your accusation"

Irene contemplated if she would tell Jennie the truth or not. She is her dear friend after all, perhaps it is time for her to lay everything on the table. With this, she can also ask what her acquaintance with Lisa is.

"We should talk in my room then" said Irene.

Irene guided Jennie to her room and instructed her to sit on the two-tabled chair. The two remained silent for a few minutes not knowing how to start the conversation.

"You must be vexed" said Irene "I apologise for making you feel such thing"

"Indeed I am, but I will understand your reason behind it. You are rational Irene, I believe you did no such thing on purpose"

"I apologise once again. I know not where to start"

"How about the first time you seek my sister's 'guidance'" suggested Jennie.

"I fear you would judge me, for it is a peculiar feeling, and the prejudice, I do not know how I will take it if it came from you"

Jennie nodded and Irene continued.

"I have met someone that made me feel certain emotions, new one's that I never felt before. At first, I was not sure, I thought it was just pure admiration. But this certain someone occupied my mind in an unhealthy way, like a parasite not wanting to leave my brain. The second time I saw this person it was a confirmation, the odd feeling was confirmed when we made physical contact. My body jolted like I was struck by a lightning, my stomach twisted like a knot. I felt more alive and the colors seems all bright. I was happy, very happy"

Jennie processed each word that Irene uttered, she listened very well and even forgot to blink for she was immersed on the information.

"Leave me not hanging, please do continue" said Jennie.

"But I saw this someone with somebody else, somebody who is precious to me. I feel betrayed, but i  have no right to do so. The reason why I distanced myself for I wish them happiness and also so I could move forward"

"I do not understand Irene" said Jennie "Where does this place me?" Jennie who have thought she listened well was awestruck when she did not understand.

Irene who was clearly in pain, does not want to mention Jennie's name. But she has to, that is the reason of their conversation, to lay it all on the table.

"It is you Jennie, that somebody who is precious to me. My dear friend who is currently seeing the person I fancy"

"Fancy? Who could it be?" asked Jennie "I am in no relationship with somebody Irene.

Irene was confused, or 'is Jennie just pretending?' she asked herself.

"Then what is your relationship with Lisa?" asked Irene.

Jennie on the other hand laughed really loud, Irene was confused why Jennie could not stop laughing. Minutes have passed till her laughter dies, her eyes were full of tears and she tries to and remove her tears with her right hand while her left hand is holding her stomach.

"Oh Jesus Irene, that was a good one" said Jennie.

Irene is still confuse, her eyebrows furrow and mouth in agape.

"What made you laugh like that?" asked Irene "I was in distress for nearly a week, how can you laugh?"

"Pardon. I was in shock, I feel felicity that you feel the same way for the latter was obviously scared"

"Please dare explain"

"Lisa has been a friend of mine before we moved in this town, we wrote letters to each other, and when she told me what occured on her previous town I was scared for her safety, and suggested her to move here"

Irene nodded and Jennie continued.

"The reason why we meet most of the time is because of you. I told her I am your dear friend so she asked me for some advice"

"I do not understand. At the day of the ball, why did you ask Suzy to tell you the gossip?"

"So I know what people talk about, I clearly know what it was but the people know nothing of the details. They judge what they cannot comprehend, like you said"

Irene was trying to process the new information, how many more does she have to discover?

"Speaking, the reason why you eyed me when Jisoo asked you with whom you are going?"

"Yes, but Jisoo knows about my acquaintance with Lisa, my sister and I are neighbors with Lisa before we moved"

"I do not think so, she told me she does not know. How could she fool me?!" said Irene who felt like she was tricked.

"Blame not my sister, I asked her a favor not to tell you anything"

"She even made me call her Master Jisoo!"

Jennie laughed at her friend, Irene was once again distressed. Jisoo's acting skill is on another level, she made her believe she was naive, with that she never even suspected her.

"You better pray that your sister is going to heaven, I will behead her once I see her!" said Irene as she close her fist.

"Oh I will warn her then, and inform her that Irene is learning archery" said Jennie as she gestured at Irene's outfit.

"The Kim's are bullies" said Irene and stood up so she could change.

"What will you do now Irene? That you know my friend feels mutual"

"I will leave it to fate, and not worry about to-morrow"
