I HAVE NEWS GUYS... wait till the end hehe
Her goodbyes have been the most bittersweet sound my ears have heard these last few years.
I flip around in the passenger seat of the car. My heels rest on my ass, as my body faces the back of the car. I look at Penelope, sucking on one of her fingers from habit.
"Bye baby, see you soon." I rubbed her little knees and sat back down in my seat, sinking down into the leather. I looked over to Harry who was the one driving. I was sure he was going to take her out, it's what he always did; spoiled her when I couldn't say no.
"Thanks for driving me, I'll see you at five. I love you both so much."
I look over my shoulder to say bye to Penny one last time and blow her a kiss, patting her knees with the two fingers I had just pecked. She tries her best to blow a kiss at me but more or less just ends up blowing raspberries. I smile to myself, allowing myself to feel the warmth of her love on the inside.
My head turns to Harry, and he pulls us in to give a small peck before we go. "Good luck."
I rolled my lips in, it wasn't anything big today, but the reality was setting in and I was about to compete in the Olympics soon enough.
"Thank you, see you later pretties." I grab my spike bag, my drink bottle and exit the car swiftly.
My feet quickly move around on the gravel to enter the clubrooms of the athletics track. Today it was just me and the other high jumper that qualified – Faith Larrs. My coach was on sick leave, so the committee agreed to train us both in preparation for the games later in the year.
Robert Miller. He was fairly known, but only amongst the athletic kind. It's not like your average every day person can recall his name, but a lot of sport professionals, commentators and competitors can. Nicest dude I've ever met and is incredibly flexible to my thrown around schedules due from the boys. He never took me as the person to be here because money or fame did it but took me in as an athlete trying to improve every day. He was also very understanding about wanting to stay private and secluded, not wanting the press or random people to show up in hopes of seeing Harry.
I enter the pavilion, seeing Faith and Rob already in there. She was stretching while he was talking to her, probably giving her a run down on today's warm up and the way it would all unfold. I checked the time on my phone, reading 12:57 just to make sure I wasn't actually late.
Relieved as our meeting time was one, I let out the tense breath I was holding inside. I make eye contact with Faith, then soon Rob. I let out a small smile and sat down next to Faith to start. It was very important not to stretch on cold muscles, so I didn't start to stretch like her – assuming she'd already done a general warm-up.
"Girls, go two laps around the track and come back in, we'll talk, and Polly can start to stretch."
I do as I'm told. Getting up and keeping light on my feet before we make it out to the rubber track. The second we hit the dark maroon, we start to run together and in sync.
"So..." Faith started the conversation at the beginning of the slow eight-hundred meters we were about to run. We were friendly and we certainly knew how to start a conversation and hold it, but it was almost hard for us not to track down to my life and all it involved.
