garfield and elysia

"this past week has felt like a blur. One horrible blur— and— that dream? that vision? of Jon and Odie? what was that? was i in heaven? no... no... that can't be true..." Elysia's mind was a whirlwind of emotions.

" so.. i heard what happened.." Garf said to Elysia. They both briefly make eye contact in the rearview mirror.

"who.. uh.. who told you about what happened? what happened while i was unconscious?" Elysia asked

"while i was running away from bof you and that crazy lady, i heard a fud (thud).i turned around and saw you on the ground so i dialed 911 and they came and arrested that lady for attempted murder.." Garf began to choke on his words.

"she got arrested?" Elysia asked, quite shocked.

"mhm. she tried to run but that didn't end well for her." Garf chuckled.

"i can imagine" Elysia laughed a little.

"thennn you where sent to the hofspital, i came to visit you. i fought (thought)  'i have to tell them. my true identity. now or never"- and the refst is hiftory." Garf said ending off his story.

Elysia looked out the car window of the dark road they where driving on and looked back at Garfield.

"i... had a vision of some sort while i was unconscious. I saw Jon and Odie there. i could've sworn i was in heaven, until Jon started screaming at me for letting you run away from me. Jon was furious. i wonder if it was just a mere dream or if i actually was with them.. it felt so real." Elysia started to tear up.

It's been decades since they died in the car accident but Elysia still never fully recovered. Their deaths left a permanent tear in Elysia's heart. they still think of them everyday... wishing they where still alive to comfort Elysia and make things better. wishing that they could feel their warm embrace again. wishing that they would at least say their last words to them. but Jon and Odie are gone.. they're.. in. a better place now...

Garf was silent for a few moments.

"it was probably just a weird dream, nufing serious. oh- we're almost home! i'll make you a cup of tea and let you rest up, alright?"

"alright." Elysia could tell he was just trying to change the subject but regardless, they responded with a soft smile. They can't blame him for not wanting to talk about the car crash. it killed two of the most important people in his life and left him traumatized. Garf was the only survivor.

Garf parked the car and walked Elysia into the house, made them some tea, grabbed a soft blanket, and snuggled up to Elysia. They both slept there the whole night.
