"Mm. Dallas." I rub his back. Someone rang the doorbell. "This late?"

"I'll get it."

"Lemme go with you."

"Okay." We put clothes on and went downstairs. I look outside. "Oh my god it's police."

"We have nothing to worry about. Probably got the wrong house."

"Hopefully." He opened the door. "Good evening sir."

"Hello. Is there a Dallas Williams and Devine..."

"Waters."

"Yeah waters here?"

"That's us."

"Okay, we got a call from a child that they were being abused and we came to check it out."

"Okay. The only kids who have phones are my kids. We thought they were sleeping." We went in the den. "Is this where they stay?"

"Just until the morning. Me and my kids don't live here."

"Oh okay. " We made it down. "Oh thank God your here officer, that woman touched me. I'm just a minor."

"What?"

"Explain the situation." He told him a bunch of made up stuff while Devine stood there crying. I hugged her. "Officer. Devine would never do anything like this. Why would she?x

"So your son is lying."

"Yes. He just doesn't like her. River Devine could go to jail."

"She needs to."

"Paris... please. Don't stick with the lie. You're messing with things you shouldn't mess with. She has kids." She stared at us. "She.... he's lying. She didn't do anything." I sigh.

I just checked on my kids. They're still sleeping. "I'ma use your laptop."

"Okay." I went to the kitchen. I can't believe River. That's so unbelievable. I grab a water bottle then went upstairs. "What you need with my laptop?" I got in the bed. He turned it to me. "Boarding school? For-for River?"

"It's either this or try to get my parents to get him."

"Is this your only choice?"

"Yeah. Cause it's not the first time something like this happened. That's why I can't keep a woman. Well I couldn't."

"River ran them off?"

"Yeah."

"Well whatever you do, I just don't want him in my house anymore."

"I understand that. I'll decide if I should or not. It's getting there. Would you do that?"

"I don't know. Depends. Cause you've been dealing with it for a while. I don't have a long patience. I can't wait forever like you.  You gave him chance after chance after the third time I'll do something."

"So you're saying I should since I've given him chances."

"I'm talking if I was in your perspective. You're different than me."

"I'll try a therapist first. Then it's boarding school."

"Maybe if you tell him, you're sending him off. He'll change."

"Maybe."

I go downstairs. "River, you trying to get Devine to leave isn't working and it won't work. I love Devine and she might not be your mom but let her be some kind of figure. She's teaching me how to be a better dad but I can't do that without a better son. This talk is the better choice I promise."

"What's the other choice?"

"You live with my parents if they want you or a boarding school."

"Boarding school?"

"Mh. We're not gonna move every time you call the police. I don't wanna do that anymore." Move? "I don't wanna stay here."

"We have to. I have my dream job, my dream girlfriend, and our dream house. I let you guys pick our house. Do you wanna go with your grandparents?"

"No...dad I just feel like you're replacing mom. You just told us she was dead then you bring another woman over."

"No one can replace your mom and even Devine knows that. I barely knew your mom anyway all we did was... smoke and have sex. That's it that's all. She ended up pregnant and we changed to be parents."

"Did you love her?"

"A little. We tried a relationship but it didn't work out. We wanted other things." Maybe I should stop listening now...
~~~~~~~~~
"We're gonna go home now babe." He kissed my cheek. "I'll text you... whenever."
"Okay."
"Sorry we had to stop our little.... session."
"It's okay. I'm already pregnant."
"Yep. Speaking of you being pregnant. Would you be moving in?"
"I would have to eventually right?"
"I won't force it. I can come over or you can bring them over. Whatever you want."
"I'll see. Don't tell your kids yet."
"I definitely won't."
"Okay bye."
"Bye. Let's go guys. Say bye." They left. I sigh.
