It's finally Saturday.

This week has been so exhausting and I got three assignments. I suddenly remember that Amanda and I are meeting up today so I get up quickly and start getting ready.

Once I've had a shower and changed my clothes I open my curtains and window to let some light in. I look at Drew's window and see that it is still closed. I haven't seen him since our Biology lesson on Tuesday and that worries me. I quickly shake my head, realizing how ridiculous I'm being. Amanda's words are still repeating in my head as I head downstairs to have some breakfast.

"Dad!"

Silence.

Great. He's not home again. I sigh sadly and get out the cereal and milk and quickly have some breakfast.

I looked at the time and see that it's already 10:45. If I don't leave right now I'm going to be late!

I rush to the door, put my shoes on and grab my keys before leaving the house and locking the door. I decide to walk since it's not that hot today. I walk past Drew's house and stay silent, waiting to hear something. Anything. But I don't.

I get to the cafe 5 minutes early and decide to sit down and order something while I'm waiting. As I'm scanning the menu I see Amanda walk in and wave at her. Her whole face lights up which just makes her look even prettier. She's wearing a beautiful floral dress with brown sandals and sunglasses. Her hair is out and curly as usually. We hug and both order a vanilla iced latte.

"Thank God for Saturdays. This week has been incredibly stressful. I can't wait to finish!"

"Same here! I already have three assignments that are due in less that two weeks." I really wanted to say that one of them was for Biology but Drew was my partner and we had to do it together. Amanda would definitely not like that.

We stayed at the cafe for about two hours just chatting but she had to go to work so we said our goodbyes and I went back home to get some work done. I got home about 10 minutes later and saw that my dad's car was parked outside. I had barely seen him all week because he was working so much. I opened the door and walked in.

"Dad?"

"In the kitchen honey." It sounded like he was talking to someone but I ignored it and took my shoes off, leaving them in the our 'shoe closet'.

"Hey dad, I've missed-" I stopped short when I entered the kitchen.

Sitting on the bar stool talking to my dad as he was chopping something up was Drew. He looked up when I walked it and smiled. I was too shocked to say anything and just stared at the two of them.

"Honey, are you alright?" My dad asked, looking slightly concerned.

"Umm. Yeah. Fine. Great." I stuttered. I heard Drew chuckle quietly and my dad laughed. Thanks for the support dad. Not.

"What are you doing here?"

"I heard we had an assignment that we needed to do so here I am." He replied still smiling.

"Oh."

My dad just looked at me weirdly and announced that lunch was ready. I washed my hands and helped Drew set the table while my dad finished up with the cleaning. Once everything was ready we all sat down and started eating.

"How has your week been?" My dad asked, making Drew also look at me. I suddenly got annoyed. If my dad had even bothered to come home or spend some time with me this week he would have known. But no. He was too 'busy'.

"Fine." I replied, looking down at my plate. From the corner of my eye I could see Drew frowning. My dad cleared his throat uncomfortably. He hated when we argued, especially when there were guests around/at home.

"Thanks great honey. How about yours Drew?"

"It's been good. I had a lot of work this week but other than that it's been great. And yours?" He sounded so strangely polite. I was weird seeing him in my house let alone having a civilized conversation with my dad.

They talked through all of lunch and I just stayed quiet, chewing my food really slowly and not paying attention to their conversation. When we had all finished my dad told us to go upstairs and do our thing while he cleaned up and got some rest. I didn't argue but just told Drew to follow me to my room. It wasn't messy but it wasn't clean. I had the smallest room but I didn't mind because it was honestly the nicest room in the entire house. My walls were painted this very subtle beige colour and I had wooden floors with a super fluffy rug right next to my bed. It just felt like a very homey room.

"Nice room." He commented, looking around. He took off his shoes and sat on my bed. It felt really nice seeing him again since I was so worried about him.

"Thanks." I replied quietly. Drew watched me as I went over to my desk and sat down on my office chair. I opened the drawer and pulled out the assignment sheet.

"This is the assignment. It's due in exactly two weeks so I think we'll have enough time to finish it."

"Are you okay?" He asked quietly, completely ignoring what I had just said about the assignment.

"Yeah I'm fine. Why?"

"No reason. Just asking."

I looked at him suspiciously but decided to let it go. I didn't feel like discussing it anyway.

"So how do you wanna do this?"

He just looked at me puzzled.

"I mean the assignment. Do you want to split it in half and then combine it or would you prefer to work together?"

"Together." Was all he said. I nodded.

"Okay, let's get started then."
