Saying we had a rough landing was an understatement. As we started descending toward the ground, we lost impact and barely missed the floor and slid six metres through the sand before stopping. I groaned and spat sand out, rubbing my arms and shaking the sand from my hair. I looked back at the Illyrian, as he coughed and whined. In one swift movement I brought out one of my knives and placed it near his throat. He looked at me surprised, before anger took over.
"What are you doing?!"
"Asserting my dominance."
He growled, one moment I was wielding a knife on his throat, the next he had me pinned by both my wrist as I squirmed under him.
"Oh, come on!" I groaned as I tried to wriggle out from underneath him.
"Allow me to make something very clear, you are my prisoner, I could kill you and brake your wrist whenever I please, you will do as I say, when I say it and one more murder attempt and I will not be so merciful."
"So this is you being merciful, oh thank heavens, for a moment I thought I was in some sort of danger."
He pried my knife from my hand and held it near my mouth. "And another thing, no more of your smart ass comments, or I will cut out your tongue with your own knife, do we understand each other?"
Instead of answering I looked up at our positions, him sitting on top of me, holding my wrist. I raised my eyebrow at him, amused before he realised too and glared at me before climbing off and getting to his feet. I followed suit and brushed myself off as I looked at him, expectedly. He saw me watching him and frowned.
"What?"
I held out my hand and gestured to the knife. "Well come on, you've made it very clear you could kill me whenever you want, I might as well have protection." He looked between me and the knife before chucking it to me as I caught it. "Thank you," I said and started to make my way further inland.
"Where are you going?"
I turned to look at him, as he watched me closely. "Inland we have to find shelter before it get's dark and the rain come's back." He seemed perplexed but seeing there was no other option he began to follow and not long he was ahead of me, which I sensed was on purpose. We wandered in silence, and the further we went, the more tired I felt, and the colder I became. He looked back at me at one point, impatient.
"What is taking you so long, why are you walking so slow?"
I gritted my teeth, and death stared him. "So sorry for the inconvenience my lord, I would gladly speed up, if only I wasn't hungry and dehydrated because some prick, kept me in chains for Mother knows how long and refused to feed me and countless other innocent people."
He turned around and faced me, irritation etched into his face and the shadows behind him seemed to coil around him as if ready to strike.
"I told you what would happen the next time you made another smart ass comment like that."
I rolled my eye's at him before saying, "Please, your not going to kill me, no matter how much you want to." This seemed to have grabbed his attention as a cold smile made it's way onto his face as he said, "Oh, really?" He began moving towards me but I didn't flinch not even as he towered above me. "And why is that?" soon I was smiling to, a knowing feline, smile.
"Because you owe me and as long as you do, then you won't kill me." He tipped his head to the side, not breaking eye contact.
"And why on earth do I owe you?"
I took a menacing step forward, still smiling innocently before saying, "because I saved your life and because you absolutely adore my company." He shook his head, annoyed but continued anyway, "and what do you want from me exactly?" I paused, not sure how I would play my next words as I needed him to take me to the Fae world, but I didn't want to mention my brother to him in case he used him as leverage. So composing myself I said, "I need you to take me to the Fae realm, after that we can go our separate ways."
He just looked at me, shocked, the first real emotion I saw him display, before doming that cold mask again and asking, "Why the hell would you want to go to the Fae realm?" I glared at him before answering, "I won't ask questions if you don't, so just take me there and that will be that." He watched me silently before turning around and continuing to walk.
"If you truly want to go there then I will take you, but think wisely about it before you do anything stupid." I looked at him as he turned his back on me and I quickly followed after him. Why did he care if I went into the Fae lands, this whole time he's down nothing but try to kill me or wish me dead, so I didn't understand what the problem was. I watched him carefully as he walked ahead, watching the shadows curl around him, and I wondered if they where watching me, monitoring me, and I found myself becoming more and more curious and frustrated with the silent Illyrian.
