We flew for what felt like forever trying to find a safe place to land, undetected. At first Azriel thought it would be safest to head straight back to the Night Court, but thought better, thinking they wouldn't be to happy about him bringing back an "unwelcomed visitor." Even though we where starting to trust one another he didn't think his friends would be so welcoming. So instead we decided to camp out in the mountains, in the Dawn court for the night and the next day, we would go our separate ways. I didn't understand why but a part of me dreaded it, dreaded the thought of going through the Fae lands alone. I had just gotten used the moody Illyrian, I wouldn't call us friends but we had a understanding of each other.

When we finally landed in the safety of the mountains, the sun was setting and I began to gather firewood.

"I will get the food, if you can gather the wood and get a fire started."

I put my hand up in mocking salute and said, "yes, sir." He shook his head, smiling and I went off to gather kindle. A moment later we had a fire going and Azriel came back, holding a dead rabbit. I looked down at the creature, impressed.

"I didn't know you could hunt."

He placed the rabbit down and took a seat beside me and started to skin it.

"You don't know anything about me."

I raised an eyebrow at him, curious.

"So, tell me something. You can give me an insight into the life of Azriel while I cook us dinner, I grabbed some lemons and herbs by a bush, give me a couple of minutes and I can cook up a hell of a dish."

His eye's widened in horror and he seemed to clutch the rabbit tighter in his hand.

"No, I will make us dinner." He said it quickly and harshly as if worried I would grab the animal from him and force him to eat it. I sighed and turned back to the hearth.

"You still don't trust me?"

"No, it's not that."

He reached his hand out slightly, as if to reassure me in some way, but thought better.

"Then what is it, if you think I'm going to poison you, don't, if I was planning on killing you I would have done it using my knives and charming wit."

He smiled, looking slightly relieved, before speaking, "where did you get your knives from, I've never seen you use them before." I took a deep breath. Maybe now would be a good time to tell him why I was heading to the Fae lands and why I was so desperate to get through the wall, after he saved my life and took the time to take me here, the least I could do was explain myself. And I suppose some part of me wanted to talk about it after keeping it bottled up inside me for all this time.

"When I was younger, I had some sort of fascination with sharp objects and throwing them on my bedroom wall when I was bored, so for my sixteenth birthday, my brother gave me my first knife and ever since then I collected them, named them all after the most important people in my life."

His smile, faltered slightly as he asked, "brother?" I sighed and he spoke up again in a warm tone. "It's okay, you don't have to tell me, I can respect your privacy." I don't know what shocked me more, his reassuring tone or the sincerity in his words.

"No it's alright, I'm happy to talk about it, as long as you continue to make dinner."

He nodded and went back to skinning the rabbit but kept one eye on me.

"My father was a war veteran, my mother was a housewife, they both died when I was a baby, my brother was two. We where taken to an orphanage where we spent the majority of our lives, it's where we were educated and taught about the Fae world and ours."
