Chapter 3- " Toxic Party "

John arrived at the station. He decided to take a small meeting with his team. John asked everyone to search for any case in the past that was similar to this case. And he also ran a check on their criminal database for a serial killer whose weapon of attack was a house knife. But all these efforts were in vain. All the criminals were either dead or in jail serving life imprisonment. So it was clear that this case has nothing to do with any past cases. John asked Aaron to call the two suspects of Anthony Robinson murder case - Henry and Eva.
Henry arrived at the station. John interrogated him. But Henry kept denying that he murdered Anthony. " Sir I am innocent, I just called him for some office work. And it's my job requirement to call people in my office and ask the work report. I maybe on the call record of 80% of the people in this office, does it mean that you will arrest me for all the murders that will happen in this office? And I was home when I called him. I didn't do anything sir. " Said Henry who was frustrated because of John calling him again and again for interrogation.
After some cross questions John let him go.
"Sir, I don't trust him, I did some research and sir, he has been arrested 2 times before in charges for brawling, once with a bar manager & once with his ex-landlord, and most of the office staff had nothing but complains about him. He had conflicts with everyone in the office. He didn't listen to his boss nor his colleagues." Said Ron.
" Hmm....I see, he is an arrogant man. " Said John. " What about Eva. Where is she? "
" No whereabouts of her Sir, must have ran away. She is not picking up calls, nor her parents know about her location. " Said Brian.
" Then what are you all waiting for go find her. Search her down fast. " Said John.  Brian went in search for Eva.
"Ron, where is the detailed forensic report of the murderer's blood sample? They were gonna find out the medicine in which that chemical is used. " Asked John.
" Sir, they will send it by the end of the day." Said Ron.
" Ok..... That will help us to deduct some suspects and narrow down this case. " Said John.
"Sir!!! ......The Mayor's PA - Mr Daniel Adams was found dead half hour ago at a party. Mayor has personally asked you to investigate this case. " Said Aaron who got this news from HQ.
" What.....Mr Daniel is dead? " Said John shockingly. He thought for a while, because he was already in middle of a case but he also can't overlook Mayor's orders. He asked Aaron to find clues in Ben's case and he & Ron went to the party to investigate the Mr Daniel's case.
The party was at Mrs Brook's house. John reached the site at 10.30 pm. Every one was scared and all were made to stand at one side of the lawn for interrogation purpose. When John arrived the reporting officer Peter, saluted him and started to give him a brief report of the incident.
" Chief, the victim is the PA of Mayor and that's why Mayor assigned you on this case. Sir, victim has no wound on his body, so it's still to be decided whether it's a murder or natural death. " Said Peter.
" I see......where is the body, Peter?" Asked John.
" Follow me Sir". Said Peter and took him to the kitchen of Mrs Brook's house. John checked him thoroughly but as Peter said there were no wounds on his body.
" Maybe he was poisoned, it can't be a heart attack, he is too young for a heart attack..... Ok lets see what the forensic department has to say. " Said John.
Soon the ambulance arrived and the body was taken for post mortem. Peter and his team collected all evidences that were found. John interrogated the people at the party.
First he interrogated the host Mrs Brooks.
" Maam, what was this party for? And how do you know Mr. Daniel."
" Sir, it was a reunion party of Kingston college of administration, and Daniel was our classmate, all the students of Kingston college were invited." Said Mrs Brooks.
" Ok. Give me the list of all the people you invited. Ron check the invitation list and see if any one is missing in here." Said John.
While going through the people attending the party, John came across Mrs Gonzalez.
" Mrs Gonzalez, what are you doing here? "Asked John.
" I was a part of Kingston college too, so I was also invited. "Said Mrs Gonzalez.
" Ohh.. Do you find anything suspicious here, or did you see something unusual? "
Asked John.
" Yes sir,  you sent me the list of people to look for and from that list Henry was here. And I don't remember him being a part of Kingston college. "Said Mrs Gonzalez.
" What!!!!!!! He was here ? What was he doing? Did you see anything? " Asked John.
" I don't know why was he here, but yes he did something that everyone noticed in this party. He had a big argument with  Daniel. He even threatened him. And then he left. "Said Mrs Gonzalez.
" Oh my god..... So he is involved in this case too. " Said John.
" Yes sir, even I saw him threatening Daniel. He even said to him that this party will be his last. I think he has a hand in this murder." Said Mrs Brooks.
" Ron check the list, is there Henry's name in it? "
"Umm... No sir. " Said Ron.
"Call our team and ask them to look for Henry, fast. " Ordered John.
"Yes sir " Said Ron and called the station to pass chief's order.
John and Peter's teams both searched for evidences, and interrogated every single person in the party. After that John went to HQ and filed a search warrant of Henry's house. He took Ron and Aaron with with him for the search. Soon they reached his house and searched for him, but there was no  sign of Henry so they started searching his house.
John searched for some hair strands of Henry for DNA test. He found a hair comb with some hair strands in it. He immediately took samples of it.
Ron went to his workroom where he found many many files. So he called John. Aaron went to the kitchen and took the house knife as evidence testing. John went through the files and confiscated all of them.
After thoroughly searching the house they came back to their station.
" Sir, the detailed medical report of the murderer's blood has arrived " Said Ron.
"Let me see them " Said John and took the report. " Look at this Ron, the blood report says that the chemical found in the murderer's blood is used in asthma pumps. So one thing is clear that the murder has asthma. "
" Ummm...... Sir, I think I have seen Henry with an asthma pump before sending him in your cabin on the day when you first called him for Ben's murder interrogation. " Said Aaron.
" What? Oh so Henry has asthma. " Said John.
" Sir, I will send the hair strands and the knife to the forensic department right away." Said Aaron.
" Yes, good. " Said John.
" Chief, look who is here. We have caught her at the airport. She was running away. " Said Brian.
" Miss Eva, the therapist. Where were you going at this hour? " Asked John.
" Sir...ahh...I wasn't....running,..ahh...I was .... Umm....just going for a vacation. Yes yes a vacation. So much workload. And.....ahh....Ben was just a....patient of mine. He ....ah...was good person sir. Why would I kill him? " Said frightened Eva.
" But I didn't say anything about running away or Ben's murder. (Chuckles) . Now tell us the truth fast" Ordered John.
" Sir I will tell you everything please don't arrest me, I just gave their personal files to him and nothing else, I have no hand in this murder. In fact I didn't know that they were gonna get killed. " Said Eva, she was more scared than before.
" To whom? Whom did you give their personal files and why?" Asked John fiercely.
" To Henry. Yes sir to Henry. He threatened me to either give their files or he will tell everyone that my degree is fake. I don't know how he knows this but I couldn't lose my reputation, so I gave him Ben's and Anthony's files. " Confessed Eva.
" Shame on you Eva, you have a fake degree but you also have a fake heart. You sold your humanity for a career and on what cost? The cost of 2 lives. 2 lives that trusted you and shared all their personal lives with you. I will make sure that you are soon behind the bars and your therapy center is closed forever. " Said John.
" Please sir, don't do this to me. I beg you sir,  please. " Pleaded Eva.
But John didn't listen to her and told her to leave.
" Henry is very clever. He has done so much research on them. He must have also gathered such information of Mr Daniel. Catch him fast " Said John. " "Where are you Henry? You will soon be behind the bars. "
