Chapter 5 - " Justice or Revenge ? "

After John's departure, the police department was losing its confidence.
As if the alpha lion had left the pride. But Aaron took over and brought momentum in the police officers. He started investigating Ron's case. He was ferocious about Ron's death. Ron's death was a stain on police department. All the media, newspaper were shaming the police for this. People were scared too, if police officers are not safe in this city, then how could they live sound & safely.
He had decided that he would not stay calm until he had found Ron's murderer. Therefore he analysed the murder.
" Ron was also stabbed to death. But the question was how can a police officer like Ron get stabbed by someone, he could have retaliated, called the police force if he needed, but there were no marks of retaliation from Ron. And what exactly was Ron doing in Ben's house." Thought Aaron.
Brian and others had collected some important evidences from the crime spot and had sent them to the forensics.
Aaron thought that this Ben's murder case had something to do with Ron's murder too.
" Brian, where is Mary? We have not heard from her, from the day interrogation of Ben's case. " Asked Aaron.
" Yes sir, she has disappeared in thin air. " Said Brian.
" Send 2 officers to find her. " Ordered Aaron.
" Yes sir. I will do it right away. " Said Brian.
" Also keep a watch on all the suspects of Ben's murder case - Thomas Miller, the neighbour 'Ricky Stewart' , Eva Johnson. We have arrested Henry but still Ron died in Ben's house, this means that the real killer is still out there and he is one of them. "
Said Aaron.
" Sure sir, I will keep a watch on them. "
" Ok ........ Hey Brian ! where are the files that Chief had collected from Henry's house? "
Asked Aaron.
" Yes sir, I will bring them along." Said Brian and went to the evidence department and brought all the files.
" Sir, here are the files. "  Said Brian and handed them over to Aaron.
" Thank you, Brian." Said Aaron. " Brian please ask the forensics, when will they send us the reports. "
"Sure sir, I will ask soon." Said Brian.
" And one more thing Brian, please don't call me Sir. We were on the same post till now, so just cut it, call me Aaron. " Said Aaron.
" Ok si.. Sorry..... Ok Aaron. " Said Brian and they both laughed.
Aaron started checking the files. The files were all about cases of Torres Systems, that Henry investigated himself. Each file contained an victim of the Ben's wicked plan. Aaron wrote down all the names of victims and decided to pay a visit to all the victims.
" Aaron, they said they are still working so they will send the reports by the evening. " Said Brian who just called the forensics department.
" Ok, thanks. " Said Aaron. " Brian look through this cases with me and list down all the victims, we are going to pay a visit to all of them."
"Ok." Said Brian and started going through the files.
" Jeez man, there are so many " Said Brian. " These look like....umm....maybe around 50 files."
" Yes , this Torres Systems are really crooked fellows. Look at this case Brian, Ben interviewed this client Tom, said to him that he was hired, got his ideas patented it himself and then charged case against Tom for breaking  into Torres Systems. And there were no records of Tom in the office records. So he was held guilty, he is still in prison. " Said Aaron.
" Oh my god, Ben was a really crooked person. " Said Brian.
" And who was the one who supported all this? It was the Mayor's PA- Daniel. "
Said Aaron.
" No way, how can they do this. " Said Brian.
After around 1 hour Aaron and Brian completed all the files. They went out immediately to meet all the victims.
Most of them were in jail because of Ben's fault. There families were crying because each family had either lost their son/daughter or a father/mother. All this only because of just 3 wicked people. They completed around 20 visits that day. And returned to there office.
" Man, if these three weren't dead now, I would have killed them myself. " Said Brian who was extremely angry.
" Hey you are a police officer, this doesn't suit you Brian. " Said Aaron.
" Yeah sorry, hey look the reports have been arrived. " Said Brian.
" Let's see what is in it." Said Aaron and started reading the reports. " Cause of murder - stabbed 3 times in the back which caused heavy blood loss and organ failure. What about evidences? Where is that report? "
" Hey Aaron it's here take it." Said Brian and gave him the report.
" Ohh thanks." Said Aaron and started reading the reports." Ohh.......so this is the case. Brian bring me the victims list. I think I have found the killer !" Said Aaron..............
Meanwhile,
From the morning, John was very upset he blamed himself too much for Ron's death. He was going through trauma. Many mixed feelings were arousing from his body at the same time. He was so frustrated that he clenched his fist and started hitting hard on the mirror. His knuckles were bleeding, the mirror was shattered, but still he wasn't calm at all. He slammed down his paintings, vases, table. He nearly destroyed all his house. He didn't eat at all. He felt so guilty. The words of Ron's father were circling around him, he was abandoning himself from all the outside world. Morning passed, afternoon passed, he was still sitting in his chair. Finally he calmed down. He remembered about people who were close to Ron and they must be in trauma too. So John visited all the mutual friends of Ron and him, & comforted them. He felt nice, talking, sharing emotions and felt light hearted. Finally on his way home, he also remembered about Mrs Gonzalez, so he decided to pay her a visit also.
" Hi Mrs Gonzalez. " Said John in a low tone.
" Oh chief, come in. " Said Mrs Gonzalez. " I will bring you some tea wait. " And she went inside.
John was outside in the Hall waiting for Mrs Gonzalez. But all of a sudden he gets up, and leaves without telling Mrs Gonzalez. When she arrived she was shocked by this, where did the chief go?
The next day John called Aaron to bring police force to Mrs Gonzalez's house.
" Edna Gonzalez you are under arrest, on charges of 4 murders - Ben's, Anthony's, Daniel's & Ron's....... " Said John.
" WHAT????? " Said Mrs Edna shockingly.
And at that very moment Aaron also arrived with his team. Aaron was so happy to see John joining the police department again.
" Sir, Mrs Gonzalez is the killer. " Said Aaron.
" Yes I know Aaron. We are here to arrest her. "  Said John.
" Are you out of your mind? What proof do you have? On what basis are you arresting me? I am a widow whose one  leg is crippled. " Said Mrs Gonzalez.
" Yesterday when I was at your house I saw the brown full length coat and the brown round hat hanged at the backside of your door. And this is the same coat that Bill (the local who first saw the Ben's dead body) , had seen on the day of Ben's murder, I took photo of the coat and hat and cross checked with bill, and he recognised them quickly. I also took a strand of hair from you comb and gave it to the forensic department, where they cross checked it with the hair found by Aaron on Ron's body. And guess what it was a perfect match. And you know what made me suspicious about you? Ben died on Monday as his wife clearly stated that the day before was Sunday and she had to go to pay visit to her mother, the paying visit part was a hoax but it was Sunday the other day and what did you say to Ron , when he gave you lift on Monday? You said that the day before, a school bus hit me. Edna according to me, on Sundays all school have holidays and no school bus is taking kids to school on Sunday. The reason why you got hurt was actually Ben's retaliation when you were trying to kill him. This was the main fault in your story, otherwise it was clear that you were not the killer. I went to the security guards of Torres Systems, and showed him your photo. He immediately knew who you were because you used to bring them tiffins and were close enough to easily enter the CCTV room without any suspicion. This is how you killed Anthony and then easily deleted the CCTV footage. And you were in the party too, where Daniel died,  you poisoned his drink and blamed everything on Henry. And Ron found out that you were the one who bought the poison illegally, and so he went to you to talk about this and you killed him too. Also you have asthma, and you take medicines, that were found in the murderer's blood. Am I telling the truth or not? " Said John.
Edna started crying bitterly. " Yes, I killed all of them! On the sunday night, I was waiting for a chance to get inside Ben's house so that I could kill him. But many people were visiting the house, Anthony, Thomas, also Mary was home. So I waited till everyone went and fortunately Mary and Ben had a fight that night and so she went to her mother's place. This was good for me. I quickly went inside from the back door and was about to kill Ben, when I accidentally hit a table, and Ben got aware. Then we had scuffle, in which I got hit by the vase. But still I managed to kill him. The day I killed Anthony, I was waiting in the parking lot for him to arrive, when he arrived I pretended my car was broke and asked him for help, and then when we were far away from the security, I stabbed him to death and then dragged him to his car and put him in the trunk. Daniel was hard to kill, because he already knew that the he was next to die. He had a lot of security, but he still he made a small mistake by coming in the party. I poisoned his drink, the poison takes around 2 hours to kill. I thought that all the suspicion would come on me, but on the very correct time Henry started a fight with him and then everyone thought that Henry was the killer. Everything was fine until Ron called me after Daniel's murder saying you are the one killing all these people, and said surrender yourself to the law. What option did I have, but to kill him. So I agreed with him but asked him to meet me at Ben's house. And I don't know how, but that dumb person falled for this,(laughs) he arrived at Ben's house and as soon as I got a perfect chance, I stabbed him too. Poor man, trusted me blindly(chuckles)."
" Didn't you feel anything while killing them? How are you so cold hearted? Now tell us why did you do this? " Asked John but Edna didn't speak she was just crying.
" Sir I will tell you why she did this. Her husband was also a part of Torres Systems once and Ben, Anthony and Daniel framed him into something for which he was going to be arrested, but her husband was scared and couldn't take this all, so he decided to take his life and committed suicide. "Said Aaron.
" HE DIDN'T COMMIT SUICIDE " Shouted Edna still crying. " And neither did we meet an accident I just tell this story to others because I can't tell the truth. He was killed by them, he was made to commit suicide by them, we were such a happy family before but one day ruined all our lives. One day he was returning home from Torres and he saw Anthony, Ben and Daniel talk about how they frame others and make loads of money. And they even said that they were gonna frame my husband too, he was scared after listening this he didn't know what to do and he was so afraid to face people he had locked himself up for 3 days and then on the day he was framed he committed suicide. Those 3 evil had to die, and I have done nothing wrong. I am the protector of this city from the evil-doers like Ben. I have done justice to everyone who were framed by these 3."
" Edna , I know what you have gone through but if you had come to the police station we would have arrested them. And you wouldn't have to be in jail now. " Said John.
" What do you think? there are more than 50 people framed and none of them registered complaint? Every single person complained, but what happened? Every time the court used to free those three. If law couldn't stop them someone had too. And I thought why should I wait for that someone when I can become that someone. "  Said Edna.
" But do you think you are different than them? No, you too killed an innocent just to save your life as they did. What was Ron's mistake he was just doing his duty but you killed him too, you stabbed him 3 times in the back. "Said John.
" Ron was an idiot, he was not at all meant for police department. I have done a favor on you by killing him, he was trash. " Said Edna.
" Your mental stability has been disturbed Edna, officers take her away and lock her up. " Said John.
After a few days all the the innocent people framed by Torres Systems were discharged from all the counts and were set free again. Torres Systems was closed forever and Mr Henry brown was also acquitted from all charges and set free. John soon got over Ron's death and again led the police force. Aaron got his promotion he became the deputy chief of police department.
" Sir, a dead body has been found at Carroll Gardens ..... " Said Aaron
" Let's go" Said John.
