FIRST MEETING

"Kyaaahhh! Have you seen the new student? He's so handsome!"

"I heard he's good at sports"

"He's so manly~"

Zoro walked through the hallway full of squeals and murmurs. He glanced sideways and it made the girls blushed deeply

"So noisy" he muttered under his breath and proceeded to go into his classroom

"Good morning, everyone! We have a new student. Kindly introduce yourself" the teacher motioned him to go in front and he obliged

"Hello, everyone. I'm Roronoa Zoro. I'm 16 years old and I'm a kendoka"

"Really? What's your rank?"

"Ni-dan"

"That's a great achievement, Roronoa. Do your best and thank you for your short introduction. You may now go back to your seat"

*kendo is a modern Japanese martial art that uses bamboo swords as well as protective armour.
-kendoka means someone who practices kendo or in simple words a swordsman.
-Ni-dan or 2nd dan is a rank in kendo. There are 8 ranks in total

"Did you hear? He's a kendoka! How hot can he be!?"

Zoro sighed deeply as he walked into the cafeteria. It was too noisy for his liking. So, spending lunch in the cafeteria wasn't even an option. He bought soda and quickly left before the girls started following him. He searched for a quiet place and eventually got lost

"What's this place?" He opened the door and a cool breeze instantly slapped his face

"Nice" he grinned at himself for discovering this place

He sat down and leaned his back on the wall. He took out his bento and started eating. He finished it fast and drank his coke. He wanted to sleep for a bit since he was tired of running after being chased by the girls. He was about to close his eyes when he saw someone on the top who was also done eating his food.

"Who are you?" He asked the stranger

"I'm Monkey D. Luffy. Nice to meet you! What's your name?"

"I'm Roronoa Zoro. Nice to meet you too" he replied

"So, what are you doing here, Zoro?" He asked the other

"Well... I wanted to eat in a quiet place and I stumbled upon here so here I am"

"Hmm... I haven't seen you around before. Are you new?" He asked and he nodded

He watched as the other boy jumped down. He went towards him and sat in front of him

"I and my friends usually hang around here but right now, they're late. So, would you mind if you accompany me today?" He smiled widely as he leaned forward

Zoro swore his heart accelerated and felt his face became warm. He found the boy cute especially his smile

'Shit, I just met him but he's already driving me crazy'

"Sure"

"Can you tell me more about yourself?" He asked excitedly and he nodded

"I'm a ni-dan in kendo"

"Cool!!" He clapped his hands at him

"Really?"

"Yeah! You're so cool, Zoro!" He felt his chest swelled up with pride when he impressed the other

"Can you show me your skills someday?" He nodded with a smile

"I heard a great swordsman goes to the neighbouring school so I transferred here because I plan to defeat him. I was once defeated by him but I will surpass him. One day, I will be the greatest swordsman " he said determinedly. He glanced back at the boy who was awfully quiet and stared at him intently

"What's wrong, Luffy?"

"I believe you will become the greatest swordsman" he grinned proudly and it made his heart accelerate again

He covered his mouth to hide his blushing face. Then, quickly changed the subject

Now, tell me something interesting about yourself"

"Hmm... I have two awesome older brothers who are really popular here in school. I have 7 great friends and I love meat!" Zoro chuckled when he mentioned his favourite food

"Oi! Luffy! Sorry we're late!" the duo glanced at the group of friends who just arrived

"O! Everyone! Why were you late?"

"Luffy, who's that?" Sanji asked as he eyed the guy suspiciously

"Everyone, this is Roronoa Zoro. Zoro, that is Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky and Brook" he introduced him to his friends

"You must be the new popular student everyone is talking about" Robin said

"I'm not popular" he denied

"Being modest are we" the blonde boy mocked him

"What did you say?"

"Sanji-kun, don't start a fight" Nami scolded him

"Yes, Nami-swaaann!"

"Suppeeerrr nice to meet you!" Franky did a weird pose

They all sat down and formed a circle. They also ate their lunch and continued talking

"I also know how to use a sword. Yohohohoho!" Brook said

"Is it true that you're a 2nd dan in kendo?" Chopper asked

"Yeah"

"That's so cool!" Usopp and Chopper yelled

After a lot of talking and quick bickering with Sanji, he learned that Luffy was adored by everyone in school. He was as popular as his two older brothers and he had the title of 'social butterfly'. He also learned a lot of interesting facts from the others

They heard the bell rang and fixed themselves to go back inside. Luffy was walking in front of Zoro when he suddenly looked back at him

"Zoro, do you wanna be my friend?" He asked with a wide grin on his face

He was taken aback by the sudden question. He didn't expect Luffy to include him in his group of friends

"Are the others okay with it?" He asked

"If Luffy wants you to be his friend then you'll be our friend as well" Usopp grinned as he put a thumbs up

"Luffy doesn't ask people that question randomly so I guess he trusts you. Then, we're okay with it" Nami answered

"I'm also fine with anything that Luffy decides" Robin said

"And so are we!" Chopper, Brook and Franky said happily

"I'm accepting you because of Luffy. Consider yourself lucky, marimo" Sanji said

"So, what's your answer, Zoro?" He asked again

"Then, I'll be glad to be your friend, Luffy" he smiled fondly at the boy

"Shishishishi. We have a new friend!" He laughed and dragged him inside
