I felt Jake move a few times before he cuddled himself into me. I went ahead and got up when I heard Embry and Jared call to us. I kissed Jacob's neck and slipped my jeans on. I made my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth, when I saw something that stopped me in my tracks.
On the left side, at the base of my neck, was a mark. The Alpha's mark. Jacob's mark. We had completed the mating process, so it would only make sense that there would be the mating mark to prove it.
By now, the pack new about Jacob and I, so I made no attempt to hide what he left behind. I finished my morning routine, and met the guys. The looks shared amongst the pack made me feel left out until I heard something I hoped I'd never hear again: vampire.
There were a group of them, and they were coming to Forks. A growl could be heard from each one of us; we had to protect our land.
Jacob pulled me aside and said that we needed to prepare, because something big was coming. Not knowing who was in our territory sent a tingling feeling through my blood, and it wasn't a good feeling.
Our patrols had increased, the whole pack was on alert. We were out and about when a sickly sweet scent made everyone take a step back and tense up. Jacob growled as two pale figures came into view.
The male was tall and lanky with curly blonde hair. The woman with him was short, pixie like, with jet black hair. Both of them had golden eyes and were extremely pale.
I knew from the experiences I had in New York that we were dealing with vampires. From what Jacob had told me, the two in front of us were Alice Cullen and Jasper Hale, from the Cullen Clan. No one knew what they wanted, but the horrified look on Alice's face had everyone on edge.
