Seconds became minutes. Minutes became hours. Hours became days. Days became weeks. Weeks became months and months became years.
Tobias Erin Rogers. Number 188z. Cell 27. Status: Unapproachable.
Age: 30. Height: 6'. Weight: 134. Medical Notes: Underweight. Possible arthritis. Insomnia. Head wound. Bandaged hands. Approach with caution.
A loud buzz sounded throughout Toby's cell and he jerked awake, taking such a deep breathe that it would have hurt anybody else. A female guard came into the cell with a straight jacket in her hands, and a muzzle to keep Toby quiet. Her name was Rosalie Hunte, who was only two years younger than Toby and she was the only person in this asylum that he could actually tolerate. She was kind and caring, though lately, it seems more towards Toby than anybody else she looked after.
"Rise and shine, sweetheart." Came the friendly voice Toby died to hear every morning. "I know you don't like putting these on, but you meet the requirements. Sorry dear."
Toby slowly and shakily slid out of the rather uncomfortable bed and held his arms out so that Rose could put him in the jacket he hated the most. It stopped him from attacking any of the other guards that came into his cell and to restrain him from hurting himself in his breakdowns.
The female sighed softly and fixated Toby in the jacket. "Anything you want to say before the muzzle gets put on?" She asked, though was almost hesitant.
Toby remained silent for a moment before finally speaking. "T-They're.... they're n-not coming back, a-are... are they?" His speech had begun to become slightly disorganized, and he would constantly stutter. All of the other guards put the muzzle on him before he even got the chance to say anything.
"Unfortunately not. Sorry, love." She said before putting the muzzle on him.
Toby looked down sadly and nodded once before sitting on the edge of his bed.
"You're well looked after here, Toby. I know it doesn't seem that way but when things get bad, people tend to look on the negative side." She said, sitting beside him. "Trust me, hun. I know. I know what it's like to have the family you trusted more than anything throw you off into some strange place because you were different. It's not a good feeling, is it?" She asked, looking over at Toby.
Toby just shook his head and dropped his chin down to his chest.
Rose's brows furrowed and she shook her head. She reached back behind him and took him out of the jacket, also taking the muzzle. "You don't need these. How about I make you a deal..." She trailed off briefly. "You can stick with me for the whole day, do whatever you want, but you have to promise not to do anything that will make me regret taking you out of the asylum. If this day goes by well, then I'll do it again. I'm not really allowed to take anybody out, but I would risk getting in trouble. What do you say? Deal?"
Toby's eyes widened and he immediately nodded quickly. "Yes! Deal!"
"Alright. Then it's settled." She said, standing up and holding her hand out to him.
Toby nervously glanced to her hand before taking it and standing up as Rose started leading him towards her office, making sure to stay at a pace that Toby could keep up with.
