Writers Note: Chapter 7 guys! Woop! Three more chapters and it's the end of my story! I can't wait! I know I've been building up the excitement in my head on how many ways I'm going to end it just like that, and I think I got it. -fingers crossed- I never thought I would get so many reads on my story, to be completely honest here. Over a hundred, I believe. I appreciate you all taking the time to read my writing. It really means a lot.

A branch snaps in the distance. Toby awakes with a loud gasp and he jolts upwards into some sort of sitting position. His eyes wander around the forest that seemed so empty. But was it really? Recently, there had been sightings of some sort of male in this forest. It was in the news. This figure in particular gave off a very, VERY sinister feeling. And by what he could see, he didn't have a face...
Inhaling sharply, Toby pulls himself to his feet and grabs the two hatchets from the ground.
"Hello? Is anybody there?" He asks out loud and starts walking forwards, going deeper and deeper into the dreadful darkness that loomed all around and in this forest. Even though it was still daytime, the forest itself was dark. Toby had to nearly squint to be able to see.
Everything was silent for the next five minutes until another twig snapped and a loud curse came from behind him. Two people were in this forest. One was the faceless man, and the other looked as if he were a psychopath. A white face, cut mouth, blood on the white hoodie, raven black hair, and a knife.
Toby spins around on his heels and nearly screams with what he sees. He just turns and runs off. He was not left alone, however. The 'psychopath', Jeff, pursues after him and quickly catches up. Instead of killing Toby, he just grabs his arm and jerks him back hard enough that he was forced to the ground. It didn't hurt him, though. It only surprised him a bit.
The Slenderman comes into Toby's view and moves Jeff away. Jeff mumbles something under his breath and moves off behind a tree.
"A-Aren't you the guy the police and everyone is after? A-Are you going to kill me? If you are, d-do it quickly," Toby said and looked away, squeezing his eyes shut and preparing for death. Nothing happened. The Slendedman only speaks a few words. Toby opens his eyes.
"Stay out of this forest, kid. It's not safe. You don't belong here...... Not yet." Then he vanishes in thin air. Jeff peeks back from behind the tree and rolls his eyes before stomping off. Toby lays there, in completed shock.
"N-Not yet? What does that mean?" He asks himself with a twitch and slowly stands up, groaning a bit as his back cracks loudly. He just shrugs it off and starts heading back home.
There, a police car was sitting outside but no one was in there. Furrowing his brows, he heads inside, where he was quickly grabbed by the police officer that stood right beside the door. His mother slowly comes to the door. Bruises were there clear as day on her face and Toby just stared with his mouth agape, not sure what to say. Finally, she spoke.
"Toby... It's your father... He did this. He left when you did and returned home a couple hours drunk. It wasn't his fault.."
Toby could feel anger rise up in him slowly and he tried to pull away from the police officer but he had an iron grip. "Let me go, you ass." He forcefully jerked away and the officer was about to react but Toby's mother just quickly pulls him close.
"It will be alright, I promise. If this keeps up, I'm going to do something. Lyra is alright. She's upstairs. Go talk to her for a bit while I settle this, alright?"
Toby grumbles under his breath and moves off upstairs, and to Lyra's room. He knocked softly on her door. He stepped in when he heard her groan quietly and closed the door behind him. Sighing loudly, he flops down on the bed beside her.
"Did you see it happen?" Toby asks her, his voice just above a whisper.
"Unfortunately, yes. Dad was quite drunk." She said and hugged Toby tightly.
Toby held back any snarky comments that would come out and hugged Lyra back just as tight, burying his face in her neck. "What if it continues?"
"It won't, Toby. Mom won't let him."
"But what /IF/ it continues. What if we're taken away from mom and she's left to deal with him? You know, I always knew he would turn his back to us. He's just a big dick."
Lyra flicked his ear. "Don't think ahead, Toby. Just follow along. If it comes to that, then we'll figure it out when it comes to it."
Toby sighed and closed his eyes, relaxing completely into his sister. Lyra hummed quietly and gently ran her fingers through Toby's hair to calm him and hopefully lull him to sleep. And sure enough, he did, but before he passed out, Lyra whispered to him. "You need a girlfriend, Toby. Someone that will love you for who you are and look past your disorders and love you for your personalities. I think you're a great person. You're the best brother I could have asked for..." And with that, Toby was asleep, a smile on his face.

About six hours passed and Toby was awake, still curled up tightly against Lyra, but she was asleep too. So, Toby carefully pulls himself away from her and goes off to check on his mom. Thankfully, his father was nowhere to be seen. The anger in him was enough to completely set him off and he would do something he would regret later on.
Now at the door to his mothers room, he peeks his head in and sees that she's still awake.
"Mom?" He says quietly, his voice cracking a bit.
"Come in, Toby. We need to talk.." She says.
Toby quickly obeys and walks in, climbing up onto her bed.
"Your father... he.... Nothing is happening to him. He's being given a second chance."
Toby growls under his breath. "He doesn't deserve a second chance. I would k--" he cuts himself off and takes a few deep breaths.
"Toby.." His mother pulls him close and places a kiss to his forehead. "Just one more chance, Toby. I promise. I know you've never completely trusted him and that he's probably just ruined any trust you've had for him. It I promise it will be okay now. Every family has their bad moments, even the best ones. Alright?"
Toby seemed content on her words on the outside, but on the inside, he was still filled with rage. "Alright.." Was all he says and curls up into his mother, falling asleep once again.
