Chapter 16

ENRIQUE'S POINT OF VIEW

I woke up from a nightmare and rolled over to look at the clock. 3:00 AM. Ugh... I have to tell her... She'll be so mad... Maybe she'd be less angry if I showed her a fun time before I left... After being drowned in all my thoughts, I fell back into my deep sleep.

I woke back up to find Carmen awake next to me, looking up at the ceiling. When she realized that I was awake, she turned and gave me one of her warm smiles.

"Hey there, sleepy head," She said to me.

I gazed at her.

"Last night was amazing," I said, winking.

She blushed, rubbing her arm and looking down at her lap. I filled the silence.

"Glad to see you're up early," I said to her.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She said with a confused look on her face.

I gave her one of my smirks.

"We're going to have a lot of fun today," I said to her.

"But I'm tiiii-redddd," She groaned, slightly laughing.

I laughed with her and smacked her softly with a pillow.

"Hey!" She screamed, hitting me back.

We rolled off the bed, wrestling, and she pinned me down. I leaned up and kissed her.

"You awake yet?" I said, with a smile.

She laughed and got off me to get ready.

CARMEN'S POINT OF VIEW

I ran into the bathroom clumsily and threw on a sun dress while fixing my hair a little. Wow, you look like a mess from last night in bed... I fussed and fumbled around with my hair more, and put some light makeup on. When I felt I looked as best as I could possibly get myself to be, I walked out of the bathroom to where Enrique was waiting. He grinned his big smile.

"Wow Carmelita, you look great!" He said in awe.

That's funny because I actually look horrible, I said to myself.

He took my hand, leading me out towards the elevator. He rubbed his thumb back and forth over my hand as we stood in the elevator.

"Hey Carm," He started.

"Yeah?"

"Can I drive your car today?"

"Sure," I said, as I let go of his hand to search my purse for my keys.

As I threw my keys to him, the elevator door opened, and we walked to my car. I looked down at his other hand and saw him carrying a little basket.

"Uhh... Where'd you get the basket from?" I asked.

"Nowhere," He replied simply.

We got in the car and he drove far towards the mountains surrounding the Las Vegas valley.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

No answer. Okay... Finally, Enrique stopped the car and got out. He opened my door, and, taking my hand, he helped me out of the car. Confused, I leaned against the car and looked at him. His stern face turned into the warm face that I was used to seeing.

"You scared me! I thought you were mad!" I screamed. "Tell me what's going on!"

He laughed at me, grabbing my hand, and said, "Alright, come on."
