Chapter 2: octo farms

So I'm gonna make the octo people the farmers, this is where we are going to meet the second main character

Sammy swam as he was looking at the map" ok some say that the octo people have a shard of the crystal, not sure how true this is but it's a start", it was a long way, but he kept swimming, tho he wished for some form of travel, the queen usually uses dolphins for her carriage, although he was a bit confused on the story, he heard it a long time ago, something about over throwing the queen, and those princes, ugghhh, let him tell you, those guys where a$$holes, three brothers, he heard that last week they picked on the poor elder fish.

Anyway as Sammy got closer he slowed down, and went to look at his map, he didn't notice another was around, well, and octo person, they went to tend to the garden when they saw Sammy" wha..... who- why are mer folk around these parts?" They said, Sammy was still looking, looking up for a moment and then seen a octo, he waved slowly and slowly swam away, the other huffed" what are you doing here?!" They yelled," I-I'm not here for any trouble!" He purred his hands up, the other got their tool and went to Sammy," then tell why you are here", " I-I doubt you would want to know!", " look I don't like other fishy's coming into my garden", " t-this is your garden? I-it's lovely!", " quit smooth talking and tell!" He pointed the tool to Sammy's face," a-ahh!! Ok ok I'm trying to find the shards of the crystal!", " ....... what?", " t-the crystal! T-the one we lost years ago", the other stayed silent for a bit," we got this shard fair and square", " y-yes but I want to bring the pieces together and bring piece!", " hm...... you got a lot of guts for a mer folk...... I'm astreil", " oh" Sammy looked down," your a squid?", " no, I was born different, made one of my tenticals shorter then the others" he showed, the one back on his left side, half the size of the others," wow, um- sorry for thinking your a squid", " it's fine I get it a lot", " oh", " so if you need me, I'll be tending to my garden", ....... weeeelllll- I could use a partner in criiiimmmmeee~" Sammy made a cat face," ..... what are you insinuating?" Astreil asked," you can come with me~" he swam around astreil," why?", " well this could be part one of getting the tribes together again, with you and me, this is just the start astreil!" He gripped his shoulders," being hero's!", " I-I ain't a hero, um-"," it's Sammy", " Sammy, I ain't about the hero life", " come on! The story had said octo people helped mer folk! So your the first piece of the puzzle!", " I'm not sure", " adventure is awaiting you~", " hmm...... ok, but where do we even go?", " I heard that your elders held the shard", " they do yes, but they are a bit.... stubborn???"," old people are usually stubborn", " hm, well let's get this over with"," oh yeah do you have shrimp?", " yeah?", " can I have some? It's for my sister, she asked for it", " I don't see why not, this month I got a surplus of shrimp", " cool".

Sammy and astreil where on the way to the elders," so where do they live?" Sammy asked," up ahead in the cave", Sammy looked," spooky", " not really once you get inside". Sammy happened to look at how astreil was swimming, it was like, pushing himself in the water?? Where his under side would expand and in-close for swimming, make any since? He thought, " are the others gonna swim differently to?" He's never really seen a sharkian or a colossus before, it's possible.

They have arrived inside the cave," I don't know how the elders are going to be around a... mer folk", " hm" Sammy made a face," they've been around for a long time, they've seen the war fall upon us" astreil said, having his hand up in the water air. Astreil went in, looking at the elders" elders", " hello young one" the first said," what brings you here?" The second asked," elders I'm astreil, and I ask for the crystal", " why on the sea floor do you ask for that?" The third asked, " w-well, um" he was stuck on his words," wait...." the second smelled the water, somethings different here, the first smelled" yes something different", " ah- must be from when I-", " no, a mer folk" the third one hissed, Sammy jolted. The other two gasped," where are they?", " astreil, tell now", astreil was panicking, why was this so hard for him?! Sammy noticed and came out" I'm here! The mer folk!" Sammy put his hands up, the elders hissed," let me explain!", " get out! Mer folk are not allowed here!", " e-elders!" Astreil yelled, gulping as the eyes where on him now, he took a breath" e-elders, the mer folk is here for the crystal", they scowled," b-but they are here, to bring us back together! The colonies! Being together again!" Astreil was panicking," a-and we all want this war to end, I-I know this is our shard, but-" he breathed heavily, a hand was placed on his shoulder," calm down, we'll give you the shard", the first elder said, astreil sniffed and wiped his face," t-thank you elders", " but the mer must prove themselves", Sammy huffed," should have expected something" Sammy thought, although he did wonder why astreil was so nervous around the elders.

A staff hit the sea rock," our people are known for both farming, and holding onto things, farming is too easy, let's see how much you can carry" the elder1 said, Sammy gulped, he didn't know if he was ready for this. Ok- Sammy was already struggling and they where three objects in, it's not his fault that these things where so weirdly shaped! He adjusted them in his hands before having another one dropped into one of his hands, yeah this was only gonna get harder. Meanwhile astreil was being nervous the whole time as Sammy kept getting more stuff, he was not to help Sammy with this, it's a trial to say if one of the octo people where hurt, that they would be able to help in the heat of danger, which astreil can say he's gotten his tenticals hurt before. Sammy got to 6 objects, having trouble keeping them steady as more came to him, and damn are his arms weak-. Astreil had to calm down, he had to trust that Sammy can do this, Sammy had to make it to at least 10 objects, ok ok, well it's different for a mer folk, octo people can hold up to 3 to 4 objects in there tenticals, well more if they wanted to push themselves, but Sammy has two hands, not tenticals. Sammy struggled to get the 9th one up there, his hands where unsteady, he had only one more to go, the final one came and he got it up and tried to make his hands steady, 10 seconds past before they had fell out of his hands, Sammy looked down at them and then at the elders and gulped, the first one clapped," you did well for a mer folk", the other two clapped along," you have proven yourself" the third pulled out the shard of crystal," keep care of this and don't loose it, we are trusting you with this" Sammy held the crystal in his hands as his eyes glowed," t-thank you!", " hm, to be sure, we are sending astreil with you"," what?!" Astreil said," astreil we have to make sure nothing happens to the shard, if you are wanting all the shards, your going to need help" the elder said, saying to Sammy then looked at astreil, he took a breath and nodded," be brave astreil" the third said, he nodded again, astreil was usually scared of things, such as going on this trip, this trip wouldn't be easy, he knew this, but he had to be less scared all the time, and so, he started his trip with Sammy.

So...." astreil started, Sammy looked at him," why did you want me to come? You saw how I was back there", " it's alright, people usually get scared, you just need a little toughening up!", " yeah but out of all octo people, you choose me", " I didn't meet anyone else"," .... true, but if you did, you could have picked them for this, I'm not a hero, I'm not special Sammy", " don't bring yourself down like that, your special in your own way", " and that way is?", " being you, you had a beautiful garden, so you got some muscles, look astreil you have your way of doing things, and that's good, you don't need to change that", astreil smiled softly.
