I know I am running late. But I have a problem.
Habang nakatayo sa paanan ng bed ko, I rested my chin over my knuckle. I squinted my eyes, leaned my head to one side, and rested my weight on one leg as I tried to decide which one I should wear to school today.
The Chanel tweed jacket or the Saint Laurent blazer?
"Theresa!" I bellowed over my shoulders.
My bedroom door squeaked open.
"Yes, maam? May kailangan po kayo?"
"Help me choose. Which one should I wear today?" kinuha ko mula sa kama ang dalawang jackets at iniharap ang mga ito kay Theresa upang matignan niya ng maayos. I placed them in front of me.
"Aling bag po ba ang gagamitin niyo today?" tanong niya.
"The Celine bag." she knows my stuff, so I don't have to show her what Celine bag I'm referring to.
"Ah. Iyang sa left po, ma'am." itinuro ni Theresa ang Chanel tweed jacket.
"Okay. Thanks. I'll be downstairs in a minute, Theresa." sabi ko sa kanya, throwing the other option back on my bed while I put on the Chanel jacket.
Tahimik na lumisan ng kwarto si Theresa, shutting the door close before her. I stood in front of the mirror, admiring how I looked fabulous in my plaid skirt, white polo, blue ribbon, and Chanel tweed jacket.
"I should tell Dad to give Theresa a raise."
Satisfied with how I looked, I put on my Doc Martens loafers, swung my Celine bag over my shoulder, and went downstairs for breakfast.
"Yaya Lourdes," I sighed disappointingly as I saw my breakfast. "I told you I'm on–"
"All-carb diet. Oo nga pala. Nakalimutan ko. Pasensya na." Yaya Lourdes was quick to realize.
I timidly smiled. "That's fine. Can you make me a smoothie na lang? So I can drink it sa kotse. Male-late na ako,"
"Sige. Sige. Sandali lang."
It only took 10 minutes for Yaya Lourdes to finish making my smoothie. After that, my driver, Kuya Karding, and I are already on the road to school.
We got stuck in a traffic jam for a bit. Agricultural protesters were blocking the road. It got out of control somehow and the police are trying to mitigate the situation.
I can't blame the protesters. You have to be loud to be heard. Loud enough that the people in the position would start working their asses for a solution.
"Thank you for driving safely, Kuya Jackson. Ingat sa pag-uwi." I told my driver before I got out of the car.
While heading towards the senior high building, a couple of juniors greeted me. Hindi ko man maalala anong mga pangalan nila, I'm pretty sure they were at my debut party.
I know I am running late to my first class today, but a queen got to walk like a queen even under pressure. My time is gold and I shall use it at my own expense.
The world is my runway, so I shall take—oh!
"Ollie!" tinawag ko ang lalaking nilagpasan lang ako kani-kanina lang. Agad naman siyang huminto at umikot paharap sa akin.
Halatang kagagalang niya lang mula sa practice. Basa pa ang kanyang buhok. Nakasuot pa siya ng tennis shoes at hindi pa naka-tuck in ang polo niya.
"What?" he groaned.
