I stared at the prison cell floor. It was made of stone and had too many cracks in it. There was graffiti from people who found a way to get that stuff smuggled in.
I heard knocking on the bars of my cell and slowly looked up to see someone I didn't think I'd see in forever.
My son Kai.
He held an XMV in hand, or the Xarnia Massive Vortex. It would be able to transfer anyone in and out of the game on the spot. I looked into his eyes and said, "That's my boy."
He grinned and aimed the gun to the wall. He shot at it and a vortex opened. Code flowed through it and I jumped up. I ran to the portal and right before I jumped through I looked at him again.
He was so much older than before and he understood the experiments we do. Soon we'll think of this as fun and games with concern for maybe only Kai because of the real life serum, but it'll be okay. In the end the living children will survive the virus and the virtual world.
I looked back at the portal and jumped through as I heard him say, "Stay alive mom."
