Request (from Tumblr): My biggest fear is failure & disappointing the people I love. And can I have this with Remus Lupin? Once again congratulations!!

To feel someone's disappointment is almost as devastating as digging a hole to live in. It's the feeling of being useless and worthless that drives people insane. Their hearts ache to be the best, to succeed so the people they love can be proud of them. This wasn't the case for Y/n.

Transfiguration was possibly the hardest class in Hogwarts. Of course, Sirius would disagree but she knew it was hard and McGonagall was strict. Remus had been tutoring her for the past month to get this right. It seemed like his efforts had done absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Y/n really didn't want to show him the paper with the P on it for 'poor' but she didn't want to lie either. Disappointing Remus was the worst thing she could ever do. Seeing how his smile would turn into a tight thin like and his eyes would glaze with sadness. Hesitantly she knocked on the boys dorms for Remus to answer it.

Remus smiled and Y/n just stared at him, "What's wrong, love?"

Y/n flung the paper at him which landed on the floor. She curled up on Remus' bed and covered her body with his blankets. Remus bent down despite the soreness in his body and saw the red P on the paper. He sighed and Y/n tensed. She didn't like the way that sigh sounded. Gently Remus sat beside her and stroked her hair.

"You're disappointed." Y/n muttered, "Aren't you?"

"I'm not disappointed." Remus replied, "'M just thinking of a way that we can study so you can get this. I don't want your marks to fall."

She sniffled, "Are you crying?"

Y/n didn't say anything but from the light of the window he could see the silver trails on her cheeks. Remus laid down beside her and pulled her into his chest rubbing her back lovingly.

"'M sorry. 'M so sorry."

"Hey, hey," Remus cooed pulling her away to look at her face, "There's no need to be sorry. Somethings are harder for people than others."

"I'm gon' help you baby girl," Remus kissed her forehead, "I'm not disappointed. I'm proud of you for trying and asking for help."

Her eyebrows furrowed, "You're- You're proud?"

"'Course I'm proud." Remus replied, "It takes a lot for someone to ask for help and I'm glad you came to me. We'll get through this."
