Request (from Tumblr): my biggest fear is water (character Remus Lupin) please ?

Hanging out at the Black Lake was typical for the Marauders. It seemed to be an every Saturday spot for them when the winter season turned into a brilliant spring. As usual, James and Sirius were messing around in the water. At the same time, Y/n and Remus were sitting beneath a tree.

Her back was against a tree, reading a muggle book Remus had gifted her. James and Sirius had been begging for her to get into the water, but every time Y/n resented the idea. Remus didn't push, nor did he really mind not going in the water. Truth be told, he preferred being dry anyway.

Remus knew of Y/n's fear of water. He never thought it was weird like she thought he would. Remus didn't mind having to sit on the sidelines and play referee for James and Sirius' games. Remus had fallen asleep against the same tree. Unbeknownst to the sleeping boy and reading female, the two boys in the water began planning.

James carefully got out of the water and walked towards her quietly. Y/n didn't realize he had gotten out of the water until she was lifted into James' arms. The book fell out of her hand and onto the grass.

"James," She began in a warning tone, "Put me down."

James pouted, "But you never join us in the water!"

As he got closer, she began to scream and squirm. Y/n's scream is what woke Remus up, and immediately he jumped to his feet, seeing James in knee-height water holding his girlfriend. Padfoot had been splashing around. James was just about to drop her when Remus yelled.

"James!"

James froze, "Put her down. Now."

Hesitation filled James' veins, but he let her go anyway, dropping her into the water. Remus ran towards her and pulled her out. Y/n was hyperventilating, and tears were filling her eyes. He collected her into his arms and placed her on the ground.

"It's okay." Remus cooed, bringing her ear to his chest, "You're okay. I have you."

Long story short, James got what was coming for him.
