"Please don't go," Mingi cried as he clutched his partner tightly. Hongjoong gently stroked Mingi's head, straining to maintain his position, but he couldn't care less.
College was indeed a complete fuck up.
"Mingi-ah, I'll be back before you know it. Keep on going, baby." All it took was a whisper for the taller to crumble.
Listening to his high school sweetheart's heartfelt sobbing crushed Hongjoong's heart. Some may believe Mingi was overreacting, that it was only a matter of three years. The poor, on the other hand, was a 17-year-old with the heart of a 5-year-old. He'd heard that long-distance relationships seldom work out.
"I've got to get going, baby... It's about time. I'll return every year."
The hold around Hongjoong tightened, but after a while loosened and receded. He smiled tearily as he wiped Mingi's tears away with his tiny thumbs.
Mingi grabbed his boyfriend's cheeks and leaned in for one last kiss."Promise you'll facetime me every day, no matter how busy you are with your exams. I'll skip practice if it means talking to you." Hongjoong chuckled at his boyfriend's cute pout.
"Make sure you give it your best and get into the university of your choice. There will be no slacking! I never taught you not to give your all in whatever you do."
To be honest, Hongjoong was also afraid. This was not a case of two distinct cities, but of two different countries. Mingi was immature and naive; what if his heart changes his mind for someone else?
Yunho had promised to keep a watch on his closest buddy, and despite his faith in Mingi, he couldn't help but feel apprehensive. Mingi was the perfect cute jock...the shy one, to be precise.
Everyone wanted to get in his pants, and Mingi probably didn't realise it either; he just assumed that people loved being kind to him. Song Mingi, you're such a moron!
"I love you, Hyung."
"I love you too my big dumb jock."

The first 21 months were difficult. They were mentally prepared for the difficulties, but this was beyond their expectations.
The mention of breaking up in their conversations... arguments, to be exact, was not uncommon in their talks. It always made Hongjoong laugh thinking about how they called each other three times a day, every day. They only talked around three times a week now.
But they managed to make it work. They never gave up, no matter how tough the circumstances were.
Hongjoong had broken numerous promises to visit Korea. Don't get him wrong, he missed his country, but the amount of work he had was exasperating.
Also, he enjoyed meeting new people in a new country, learning about different cultures and traditions, and being inspired by something with every trip he took.
Mingi had also grown preoccupied with his senior year and football trials. Working feverishly day and night to gain admission to the Ivy League.
By the end of the day, the poor lad would be so spent that he would faint the soon he hit the bed, entirely forgetting about a certain who would be waiting for his call all dressed up.
Things appeared to be impossible due to the time difference. They did, however, manage to make it work.
"Joongie Hyung, happy birthday!" Mingi's voice sounded tired, but Hongjoong's heart softened as he bounced around on his bed with a lit up cupcake. The older sat with his face in his hand, watching the younger sing cheerfully.
