"Did you put him to sleep?"

"Yeah."

After putting their son to bed, Hongjoong joined his spouse in bed. Hongjoong couldn't persuade Seonghwa to go since he was reading articles online. He didn't mind him reading good things, but knowing Seonghwa, the guy had a serious passion for murder mysteries, and he believed that reading such terrible subjects right before night would disrupt his mental health and sleep.

"I hope you dream about a dismembered me since you've been reading so many articles about married couple murders lately," Hongjoong mumbled. He slid himself under the covers, grabbed for his phone to check for any missed messages and social media.

"Hongjoong-ah! Why would you say such a thing?!" Seonghwa groaned, but turned off the Ipad and placed it on the bedside table. It was always effective. "You already know that Mr Lee is my favourite author! At the very least, let me read his writings, sweetie." Seonghwa sighed and laid down. "Then why don't you go marry him?"

Seonghwa gasped dramatically and crept over to Hongjoong, embracing him and placing his head on his lap. "What's made you so grumpy today?" Hongjoong shook his head. "Nothing, nothing, I'm alright." His spouse sneered and began tickling his stomach. "Now, hurry on! Don't lie to me!" Hongjoong chuckled and tried to shove Seonghwa away from him.

"St-stop! Babe!" Seonghwa leaned forward on his elbows for a kiss, which Hongjoong gladly accepted. "Really, I'm OK. It's just...Jongho."

"And what about our kid?"

"We had a parent-child day today at school you know right?" Looking down, Hongjoong fiddled with his thumbs. Seonghwa saw that something was troubling his husband and sat properly in front of Hongjoong. He was aware that Hongjoong had cancelled all of his schedules and was looking forward to this day. "Forget it, it's stupid."

"Hey, no, take a look at me." Seonghwa grabbed the younger's face, forcing him to look him in the eyes. "You already know you can tell me anything. Didn't we swear to be each other's safe spaces?"

"Mrs Seo was telling us all about how smart Youngjae is, which he is! I just think Jongho should be more open to new experiences. He does nothing except play!" Seonghwa let out a sigh and shook his head. Hongjoong had allowed that annoying lady to get to him.

"Mrs Seo has nothing to do but boast, darling! Nobody cares for her! And our Jongho is five years old! It's his age to have fun! You're very concerned, honey."

"Hwa, our son despises me! He practically had a meltdown when I arrived at his school because he wanted you there! He threw a tantrum telling me to return to work and call you! It was so humiliating, Seonghwa!" The man ranted as he tried not to cry.

Seonghwa frowned at what Hongjoong said since Jongho was the most gentle kid he had ever seen. He was kind and considerate to everyone. This was not what they imagined from their son.

"It's probably all my fault. Jongho and I have grown distant since we moved here for my job. Not that we had much of a connection before, considering I started working six months after his birth." Hongjoong burst into gentle sobs as he remembered how devastated Jongho was leaving his favourite uncles and just how much he wept the entire flight.

Seonghwa was quick to wipe the tears cascading from Hongjoong's cheeks. This was the first time they had discussed the subject since they had moved. Seonghwa has always been supportive of Hongjoong's work and his decisions. He had to close his cafeteria, which was difficult for him, but he trusted his husband. He understood it was tough for them all to leave their friends behind, particularly Jongho, but this chance was very crucial for Hongjoong.

"No way, baby! You gave birth to our sunshine! My darling, he would never hate you. You've been doing an excellent job of providing Jongho with the greatest life imaginable, and I constantly make sure he knows it. I always make absolutely sure your feelings for him are known. Jongho even said in class that you are his role model!"

Hongjoong sniffled a little and looked at Seonghwa.

 "He did?"

Seonghwa beamed at him and drew him in for a hug. "I'm not going to lie to you, am I? And as for this arrangement, it is only temporary! We will return when your project is completed! Jongho is also aware of this! Have you forgotten that I haven't sold our property or my cafe?"

"I just hope I'm not being a bad mother to our boy."

"You are the finest mother anyone could have."

The elder male drew back and kissed his husband on the lips. Hongjoong returned the kiss with a smile. "Hwa, I love you so much. Thank you for being so encouraging. I desperately needed someone to depend on."

Seonghwa grinned. "I suddenly realised, we haven't made love in a long time." Hongjoong slammed his fist into Seonghwa's chest as a result of what he said out of nowhere.

"Jongho is literally sound asleep in the next room. No."

Seonghwa climbed into the comforter and straddled Hongjoong. "Babe, don't be such a spoiled brat. Nothing has ever stopped us before, so why are you afraid now? Just a quickie, please." He gave the younger a smug grin before crawling further beneath the cover and tugging Hongjoong's trousers down.

Hongjoong bit his lower lip and ran his fingers through Seonghwa's hair.

"Mommy!"

Hongjoong let out a loud yelp, and Seonghwa halted before he could even pull Hongjoong's boxers down. Seonghwa instantly assisted Hongjoong in pulling his trousers up and sliding out of the comforter. He sat next to him, fixing his hair.

a sobbing Jongho had entered their room holding his teddy bear. He dashed towards Hongjoong, constantly crying out to him. Hongjoong picked up his son and sat him in his lap. He pulled Jongho's bear from his grasp, handed it to Seonghwa, and held him, the five-year-old clinging to him. "Baby, what happened?"

"Ma- mama..." Jongho wept.

"Mama is right here, baby, mama is right here," Hongjoong rocked his son back and forth, kissing his baby on the forehead. Seonghwa leaned over and stroked his hair, attempting to calm him down. "I want to sleep with you. " Jongho murmured.

"You can sleep with mummy, dear. Go to sleep, my prince."

After twenty minutes, the couple had managed to put their kid back to sleep. As he slept, he continued to hug Hongjoong. Hongjoong smiled down at the little human being curled in his chest, his cheeks red and swollen from all the crying.

Seonghwa broke the silence with a giggle. "Shut up! You're going to wake him up!" Looking at his husband, Hongjoong murmured. "I'm sorry, but it's just so amusing that he almost caught us doing the deed. Talk about timing." Hongjoong, too, fought to hold back his laughter as he listened to Seonghwa.

"I nearly shat my pants because I was afraid of scarring our sweet boy." The duo snickered once again.

Seonghwa moved in closer and wrapped his arm over Hongjoong, with Jongho in the middle, as if to protect his family. "See? He loves you. He most likely had a bad dream after being rude to you." Seonghwa muttered quietly.

"Perhaps."

"Hongjoong, you should sleep as well. You've had a busy day. You did so well today too. I love you too, mother of my kid."
