She couldn't believe her ears! This has to be a mistake, it just has to.
"No." she says.
King Quince is not use to the word no. He got everything he wanted since he was very little. The word is foreign to him.
"You will come and you will leave, now!" he hiss softly. Striding towards her and lift her face with his glove covered finger.
"I will not go. I'm not fit to be a queen." With that said Majida races towards the Ruto's home, crying.
When Majida reaches the house she runs to the servant quarters. Once she reaches there, she flings open the door and jumps on the bottom bunk bed, sobbing.
Aisha rushes towards Majida and softly run small circles on her back. Shushing her every now and then.
"Why are you crying?" Aisha asks, curiously. She knew if she would be queen, she'd be the happiest girl on the planet.
"I'm not fit to be a queen, and you know that." Majida turns toward Aisha, wiping her eyes furiously. "I don't know the first thing to ruling a kingdom. I just can't possibly see myself as a queen." Majida sighs and looks up.
"No queen does, unless they're train." Aisha mumbles the last bit. Majida gave her a pointed look. "But all you have to do is be yourself. Your kind, beautiful and humble."
"Your just saying that."
"No. I'm being honest."
Rehema walks in and sees Aisha comforting her daughter.
"May I come in?" Rehema knocks softly at the door.
"Yes, you may. I was just leaving." Aisha walks out the room, leaving the mother and the daughter to talk it out. Her mother would've just told her to suck it up and do as the King say, if she didn't want to be queen. But Aisha really thought she would've won. Yes her friend is beautiful and kind. But Aisha had exactly what it takes to be a queen. She is: smart, gorgeous, kind at times, strict when she wants, and she understand politics and whats needed to fix up the kingdom. Something bubble inside of Aisha, but she didn't know what. Maybe...jealousy? She wasn't sure, but whatever it was Aisha wasn't certain if she likes it or not. Aisha just continues to walk out and into the garden.
In the mean time, "Momma! I don't know what to do!" Majida lets out a cry. She feels so frustrated. She doesn't want to be queen, but then again it may help her family. The burdens wouldn't be on her mother's shoulders anymore. She can finally be happy. Her brother and sister wouldn't have to sleep on the floor and they'll be well fed. But what about her happiness? Can she be happy with that beast?
