Secrets of a Girl at Ghoul School

Chapter 4

Skye quietly read over her mother's old journal. She volunteered to be the nurse's assistant since the journals would likely be helpful. They turned out to be essential and even life-saving on a few different occasions. Sano smiled from the doorway as he watched his violet-haired girlfriend crushing together a blend of herbs and other indredience. It was a solvent to help heap a yokai that had a bad run-in with some holy water. She brought it over to the boy and applied it to the burned areas of his skin. 

"I know, I know, it hurts," she said as she applied it "But, trust me, this will help more than it hurts soon enough."

She noticed Sano and excused herself, leaving the nurse to read over the journal on holy water and how it affects different types of yokai. They walked hand in hand into two. Today was their date night and they planned to go to an arcade. She was having a great time until she recognized a man watching her from the corner of the arcade. She moved to another part of the arcade, the man following from a distance. After a few minutes of this, she rolled her eyes and walked to the man.

"What do you want?!" she huffed

"Oh, hey, what're you doing h-"

"Cut the crap Akria," she huffed, crossing her arms "You're not allowed to hunt anyone on the island so what are you doing here?"

"Am I missing something?" Sano asked

"You have it all wrong, I'm not here to hunt anyone," Akira said "Your brother sent me to invite you back home."

She raised an eyebrow at her former bodyguard, silently demanding more information. He noticed and realized he never explained the context of the offer.

"Your father... well, he's passed away and your brother was put in charge since it's his birthright. With the death of your father, the contract he put in place with you is no longer. Ray has offered to create a peace treaty in place of it. Hunters wouldn't stop their work, but would only take jobs to relocate yokai instead and only kill if needed."

"Should I get the principal?" she asked

"No, he may be willing to insite some changes but it's still very much family-only on the premise."

Skey sighed and kissed Sano goodbye, for now, going with Akira back to the mainland. She didn't like being back home but sucked it up for the sake of yokai-kind.
