Oliver
I was sleeping, until my subconscious heard 'Right Here' by Chase Atlantic playing, I woke up.
No it wasn't my alarm. If that were the case I would be less annoyed with the rude awakening. Unfortunately, it is my ringtone signally that I have a call. I groaned as I reached for the noise making object."Hello?" My voice came out raspy. "Oliver!?" I jerked the phone away from my ear because of the yelling from the other person. "What?" I snapped. "Do you have any idea what time it is? Why didn't you call me and tell me that you weren't coming home?
Having me go get you some pills and you weren't even here to get them. Ungrateful brat."
Oh.
It's just my foster mom. "It's not like you would have answered anyway." I mumbled out, still very much asleep. At this point the phone fell out of my grip and onto the bed. She made my headache worse. "........Don't come home late!" Again, I had to remove the phone from my ear."Well I'm home now, so leave me alone to sleep." I ended the call before she could retort. Groaning again I dropped said phone on the bed and sighed. Rubbing my hands on the satinsheets -
Wait a minute..
my bed never had satiny sheets before. I jumped up, cracking my back in the process from the arch. These aren't my sheets.
This isn't my bed.
Matter of fact, this isn't even my room!I looked around with my groggy eyes trying to remember where I was. Nothing came to mind but fog.
I just dropped my tired body back on top of the pillows, sighing."This may just be the worse day of my life." I mumbled to myself. "I wouldn't say, the worse day. But pretty close." My head shot up to see Ross standing in the archway with a mug, shirtless. "I was expecting you to sleep more when I woke up."
He commented with a smile.
God, that smile!I've never seen him shirtless before. He has a nice body– pfft that mug has one of the most cliche sayings on it–
"So was I."
"One hell of a night?" He asked with a smirk audible in his voice. "Must've been." I heard him walk over towards me as I gazed up at the ceiling."Here. I made coffee." "Is it sweet?" I asked, voice still hoarse. There was only a beat before he replied; "I would hope so. I could take a sip if you want?" I could hear the smile in his voice.
Reluctantly I sat up and took the mug. All without breaking eye contact I asked; "You actually made something?" He chuckled. "To think, that I thought the first question would be you asking what happened."
Of course, right. Idiot!
"What happened?" I placed the mug down on the end table and avoided looking at him. "I picked you up. We went cruising around town, and you agreed to come home with me. The night ended up getting away from us though. You fell asleep early. "
Fucking idiot.
"Oh."
"Oh?" I glanced back up at him. He had one eyebrow raised. "How do you know I am telling the truth? That I didn't kidnap you."
I could feel my cheeks heat up. "I-"I know you wouldn't lie to me. Especially about such a thing.
He laughed. "Relax. I'm better than that. Anyway, yeah, that's what happened." He glanced back at me. "I'll leave the reason to you being half naked up to your imagination." He chimed as he walked out of the room. My eyes widened as I threw the cover from around my waist to reveal that I was in nothing but some pajamas pants.
I turned to see my clothes folded neatly in a chair across the room. It was then that I realized how big the room actually was.
I rushed and put them on while pausing to read the note that was on them. You can leave anytime
- Ross
Leave? "But I don't want to.." I crumpled the note up and put on my shoes then went to find him.
That's when I noticed the 22 missed calls and 15 unread text messages.~~~
We went to go get breakfast. Neither of us were fools enough to trust Ross' cooking. He talked aimlessly about whatever during the ride while I mostly looked out the window at nothing, lost in my own mind.
We've finally pulled up to my foster parent's house. I looked over at Ross.
I didn't want to live his presence, but I also wanted to be in the shell of my own room.
I enjoy his company but now it's time for my social battery to recharge.
I really like him but I'm also a fan of what we have now."Are you okay? Cold? Still hungry?" He's always checking me over like a worried mother. Maybe I've developed some dependency on him for that.
He's the closest thing to a mother's concern that I've ever experienced."No. I'm alright. I should get going." I reached to open the door and was stopped by his hand on my forearm. I looked at it, then back at him.
"What?" "Call me if there's anything you need. I mean it."
I know you do.
But I'm known to get attached to things that will hurt me.
I smiled; "Okay." I won't be calling you anytime soon though.
No matter how much I want to.
No matter how much I need to.
No matter how much I need you.
"Bye Ross."
