T O I C H I

Toichi ducked behind the roof vent to escape the stray of bullets. He uses too much power, which launches his body into the air duct. He touches his shoulder in hopes the shattering pain is just a side effect of old age, but his glove is stained with blood. fortunately, his head is fine when he dispelled the landing with a touch of magic at his disposal. He needs a way off this rooftop!

His body is slowly feeling heavy, but the magic flowing throughout his body sings in retaliation. He waves his finger in a circular motion, and the magic lights up a path following the formation struck by memory. The ring of magic reduces to an orb of light. He checks his shoulder again and flinches upon seeing the sight. Those stray bullets were not bullets, it was stray magic!

Toichi's fists clench tighter, his brows are drawn closer, and slowly gets up to his knees. he presses the orb of light into the flesh wound. He tries not to scream in retaliation, but the wound is closing! Toichi accepts the fact he is not in any shape to fight them now. leaving now undetected is the best option! This place is crawling with agents.

He just stole a jewel from an important group of people looking for the ultimate form of immortality. Toichi suspected it was just a group formed by blind believer, but now that he has the gem in his hand, it's hard to believe any of this is fake. It does not react to his magic and for that he is thankful. He has no plans for the jewel right now. Retrieving the jewel was spontaneous.

Last night Toichi found out what the jewel was going to be used for, and the people he normally fought against during his heists accidently gave up that information. Now that his wound was cauterized, he could move his arm a lot better.

"Hm.. do you smell that? It smells like burning flesh."
"No way.. your not into that are you?" the guy laughs,

Toichi's eyes darkened at the thought he might run into them and alert the others. He's seen the photos stacked in Kudou's office. They're trained killers, bred and groomed to be masterminds of the night.

He jumped off his heels and swiftly made his escape off the looming tower. Quickly he assessed the vicinity for the closest building— he motioned his hands out in front of him as his body dropped. He was getting closer to the ground, but his magic was there to catch him last second. His magic only works when it comes in contact with 3D objects.

From the other side he was pulled into a pocket created by his own magic and spit out using a mental image of the place he envisions in his mind. His pushes away the images of his family, and the image from earlier of a nearby building emerges. The magic transports him to the same building.

Toichi casts a look over his shoulder thinking it was too easy. He changes outfits, and lands into an alleyway with a black jumpsuit and a coverup for his face.

___

Toichi lowered himself on one of the balcony's on his home. He makes easy work picking the lock. Things are quiet inside from what he can tell from frequently taking a peak in the small gap made by the curtains.

When he finally slips back the door, he checks his surroundings before looking over his sons sleeping face. From the corner of his eye, he started. His wife came at him with her own magic. The wiry bandages crafted from her own spells sprout out from her palms and made a move to capture Toichi.

"Chikage." His wife halted in attempt to capture the kidnapper, but it turned out her husband was the intruder. Whom she knew was in trouble, she saw it all on the TV, and ever since, she's stayed close to her son in the room.

"Toichi.. oh my gosh, love! I was so worried!" Chikage dispelled her magic with the swipe of her hand and gave the man a hug. She weaves her fingers in his hair and prays she will not see her husband in this distraught state ever again.

From where Toichi stood looking over Chikage he can see the chair on the other end of the room, guarding the door, and he smiles as he returns the sentiment with a fond squeeze to her hips.
"Did they follow you?"

"I'm not sure, I don't think so.. before anything else, I need to make sure, this doesn't get in the wrong hands." He pulled back far enough so he could reach in his pocket to retrieve Pandora and show his wife.

"You really.." chikage held her husband's forearms in a fierce grip. She's in disbelief and wonder how such a mysterious gem could go unheard of for centuries! She does not understand what the properties of this cursed gem will do to their son.. She holds her breath and bites down on her lip to keep her mouth shut.

They need to do this. Toichi knew that and so did Chikage. They weren't magically compatible, believe it or not. Curses are essentially wild magic, and cannot be contained unless they have the right container.

Toichi and Chikage have already gone through their magic stages, but their son hasn't. which means, the gem just needs a source to fill the absence of a magical power source. Chikage is worried, when he does get older, will his own magic mess up the curse and hurt her son?

"Chika... I'm going to start."

•••

Chikage tucked the case from the missing gem in a brown leather case and handed it off to Toichi. He steps forward with his fedora on and a bag beside his hip.

Was this the right thing to do? She squeezes the box in her hands and the magic pulsing in her veins causes a reaction. The bandage like appendages swirl around the box until it is tightly sealed.

"I love you." Chikage does not say anything upon handing her husband the box. She knows he will come back but it is because she's disappointed in herself for letting the transference proceed as planned.
