One year later.
<Daryl's POV>
After a year of building walls, supply runs, and many tearful nights our new home is as safe as possible in this miserable world. By now we have all accepted that this is how the world will be forever. We occasionally cry for our loved ones and smile thinking about the good times. But there is one smile that is permanently seared into my mind. The smile that belonged to a beautiful blonde with bright eyes. Beth is always going to be in my heart. Never once have I doubted my internal love for her even after she was gone.
The last moment I saw her face was when she pleaded for me to help her free everyone else from terminus. The last time I saw her face she was helping others instead of herself. That was just typical Beth.
Maggie and I have become very close and have defiantly been there for each other. In the first few days of staying in the house I had told her I wanted to leave. She yelled at me in the nicest way and convinced me to stay. Thank god she did or else she wouldn't of had baby Noah. Since I stayed I had the chance to convince Maggie to keep the baby when she was pregnant. She had came to me asking for me to get her a form of abortion. I had told her Beth would've been upset with her, so Maggie kept the baby and now her and Glenn love Noah more then anything.
I wish Beth and I could've had kids. I never wanted kids with a woman until I fell for Beth. I could see our children running around our feet in the morning. The picture was always so clear and it still is. All of my heart was and still is devoted to Beth.
In fact, I am so devoted that I had convinced Rick and the group to build little memorials for the ones we've lost. Maggie and I decorated Beth's stone with white and pink flowers and a small piece of paper with the lyrics of her favorite song on it. I could still hear her voice singing that very song. The way the sound of her pitch made you stop just to get a second of the beautiful melody.
I decide that I want to go to her little stone now. The humid air hits my face as I open the back door to the yard filled with stones with names on them like Lori, Andrea, Hershel, T-Dog, Merle, Sophia, Dale, Otis, Amy, Jim, Jacqui, Jimmy, Patricia, Zach, Patrick, and several more names. We even have a stone for Shane. According to Rick he was a good man before all of this and he was good to Carl when Rick was believed to be dead. I walk past some of the stones and sit in front of Beth's.
"Hey sweetie, it's been a year here. I wish you could've made it. We are still teaching Noah everyone's names even yours. I wish you could meet him, he's a good kid. I wish we could've had kids, I would have loved that. I love you Beth Greene." I say my peace like everyday then walk back inside the big house. Everyone else is in the living room talking and laughing. I guess after everything we deserve a place like this. A place where we can be happy and together. I join my family for a while and smile until we hear a thump at the door. We become quiet as out survival instincts kick in and I motion that I will open the door. Grabbing my crossbow quietly from beside the door, I load it and swing the door open quickly. My eyes meet with shimmering blue eyes. The blue eyes. It can't be. I saw the blood drip from the bullet wound in the back of a blondes head. I drop my crossbow.
My heart catches in my throat. She is standing there. Her blonde waves billowing in the slight breeze. Her face mimicked mine. Full of surprise. But what surprises me is she isn't alone. In her arms is a small baby with my face, but Beth's eyes.
I think to myself. I saw the blood in the blonde hair! Then I remember, all I saw was the back of a blondes head. I never saw her face. The blonde that was shot was not the woman I loved, for that woman stands in front of me holding our child. Our embrace is immediate. Arms grasping at each others backs. I whisper in her ear."Beth?"
"Daryl, I love you."
A/N HOLY CRAP GUYS THATS THE END OF THE STORY!! I was literally crying while writing this. If you are confused remember Daryl saw a blonde get shot and assumed it was Beth but never saw the blondes face. Beth lived in her own for a year and had their child alone. Beth's house got overrun so she was looking for somewhere to raise her child. That's all that happened.
I may make a sequel to this story, but I don't know. I'll see how it goes. I'll post something on here saying if I will write a sequel but for now this is the ending.
Thank you everyone for your support for this story I love each and everyone of you! This story means a lot to me and I hope it did to you to. Love you guys❤️❤️❤️
