"All you have to do is keep up with me. Simple, no? Where we're going, and when we'll get there, I can't say. To find out, just follow, follow, follow."
"That's it?" Kurapika asked. "Simple, indeed."
"Simple weird, I think," Gon said.
"Not really," Leorio said dismissively. "It's just an endurance test."
"There's a psychological element too," you said. "The uncertainty of not knowing how long we'll have to run is mentally exhausting. It's much easier if you have a goal you can concentrate on."
"Exactly," Kurapika said.
A boy raced by on his skateboard. You blinked, focusing on his physiology. It was... odd. Almost superhuman, like Gon's, but not as beast-like as the kiriko's, either. This one would be someone to watch out for.
"A skateboard?!" Leorio burst out. "That's cheating!"
"How so?" the boy asked.
Badump, badump, badump, his heart beat. The slow, steady rhythm of it was unnerving. Usually, there was a slight change in people's heartbeats when they switched actions – from walking to running, from standing still to talking. But this boy's heartbeat remained cool, steady, and unchanged. You were so focused on his heartbeat that you almost missed his and Leorio's exchange as well as Kurapika's interjection.
"How old are you?" the boy asked Gon.
Badump
"Almost twelve!" Gon said proudly.
Badump
"Me too. Huh..."
Badump
The boy jumped off his skateboard. "Think I'll run for a bit."
Even Shouto's heartbeat changed, albeit only slightly. Who was this boy?
"I'm Killua."
"I'm Gon!"
Killua was definitely someone to keep an eye on.

Three hours into the run, and people were starting to pant. You were slightly out of breath, but it was still nothing compared to the endurance runs Aizawa would spring on you. Those things lasted six hours and had you run faster. You might be a bit out of shape from your two-month break, but you weren't that out of shape.
You saw Leorio drop back, and Gon, glancing over his shoulder, dropped back with him. Trusting that Gon would keep Leorio in the race, you held steady next to Kurapika. Hearing Leorio's determined voice behind you, you smiled.
"I came here to be a Hunter!" he yelled. "And that's that! Full stop!"
He zoomed past.

Six hours into the run, and the terrain changed to stairs. You ended up cheating a bit and using your quirk to push down on your thighs – was it cheating if it was a skill you'd honed for a situation exactly like this? For a moment, you wished you'd be able to float to the top. That would be so much easier.
"How are you doing, Leorio?" Kurapika asked, beads of sweat trailing down his face.
"Great!" Leorio yelled. "Never better! Found extra steam in the boiler once I stopped giving a fig about how I looked!" His shirt was tied around his waist. You wished you could do the same, but alas.
"Strip me naked, I'm keepin' up!" Leorio cried, running ahead. "Go ahead and pretend you don't know me if you want!"
You choked on a laugh, almost tripping over the stairs. "Oh my god," you wheezed. "He's not actually going to do it, is he?"
