July fourth- my mom sat us all down for a 'family meeting'- and those never bring anything good. The last family meeting we had they told us our dad had lost his job. My sister and I were sitting on the couch facing our parents, anxiously awaiting the news they had to share.
"Your father and I have been doing a lot of talking since he lost his job. Things have been rough and work is hard to find, but he has finally found a job!" My mom tells us excitedly "The only thing being we would have to move out of the city." My mom informed us.
"Where are we moving to?" I decided to ask before I made up my mind on whether to be upset or not. I mean it can't be that bad. Right?
"I've accepted a position at a small, family-owned firm in this town called Ridgeville." Dad informs us while we sit there looking kind of lost "It's over 200 miles form here" Dad tells us, answering our unasked question.
We've lived here, in Atlanta, for as long as i can remember. So this was devastating news- we have to move right before my senior year.
It's not so much as I'm going to be missing a lot. Even though we've lived here for a while I don't really have any friends, so other than the fact that i hate change, it's not that big of a deal to me.
My sister on the other hand....
"200 miles?!" my sister, Carter, practically shouts. "All of my friends live here. My life is here." She says like we don't already know. "I can't believe your making us move!" They didn't even have time to say anything before she stormed up the stairs to her room and slammed the door.
After Carter left me sitting alone on the couch my parents looked at me expectantly, like I was going to shout at them or at least have something to say. But to be honest, I didn't have anything to say, so I just got up and went straight to my room.
My whole life was being turned upside down and I didn't have a say in any of it. So much for independence day.

A/NBefore we get started I just want to say I don't actually know anything about Ridgeville so everything about will be purely fiction.
With that being said, here goes nothing I guess.
Wish me luck!
