When I got home from school I was exhausted. Getting into the routine of school always sucks. All I wanted to do was go to bed, but my mom had other plans.

"Ryan I need you to make dinner while Carter and I run to town for some things." I hear my mom say as I was about to enter my room. "Your dad will be here in about an hour so I need it finished before then."

I sigh exasperatedly "Yes ma'am" I call back before entering my room.

I change into something more comfortable and put my school books away- tripping over a few unpacked boxes in the process.

An hour. That gives me plenty of time to put away somethings that are still in boxes.

After putting about half the boxes away it was 30 minutes until dad was supposed to be home so I went to the kitchen to cook dinner. I'm just going to make spaghetti, because it's easy and I don't actually feel like cooking.

Before I start cooking I put on some music because I can't do anything in the silence.

Not long after dad gets home he gets a call from mom saying that they won't be home in time and to just eat without them. Dinner was awkward to say the least. My dad and I used to be really close when I was little but we've grown apart, and honestly, I just miss him even though he's right in front of me.

I wake up to my alarm and get ready for school.  It's only the second day and I'm already don't want to go.

Mom let Carter drive us to school today and I was terrified, but thankfully, we made it there in one piece.

The bell rings as soon as I walk in so I walk a little faster. I enter my first class- science. I sit in the same place I sat yesterday. A few minutes later Makayla walks in, talking to a few people in the desks in front of me.

"Hi!" She says as she sits beside me. How can some people look so good this early in the morning? I look like a zombie.

"Hey." I replie trying to sound as cheerful as her but failing miserably.

"So, you just moved here right?" Makayla asks.

"Is it that obvious?" I say. I don't know how she knew that since i've been trying to blend in the whole time i've been here.

She just laughs and says "I kind of know everyone. I've lived here my whole life and my dad is the Reverend at the only church in town."

"Oh." I say slightly embarrassed. " Yeah we just moved here from Atlanta because my dad had a job... transferral."

"Atlanta?! Wow, it must be so different here for you guys." She says as Mr Williams walks in.

"Good morning class." he greets us. I zone out listening to the science lesson in the background.

~

I make it to 3rd period study hall and get ready to do the little homework I have so far. I look around and notice that jerk Ty isn't here today. Good, I didn't want to see him anyway.

The rest of the day flies by and eventually I'm back home. Home isn't much of a relief though because as soon as I walk in the door my parents are fighting again. This move has really taking a toll on all of us.

Carter and I go straight to our rooms because neither of us like it when they get this way.

I woke up and check the time 9:00 pm. Woah I was asleep for about 6 hours. I head downstairs because I'm starving and i run into Carter who apparently had the same idea.

"Hey" I say sleepily.

"Hey" she says sitting on the counter, eating a handful of grapes.

"Mom and dad didn't stop fighting 'til about an hour ago then they went to bed." She tells me as i'm opening a bag of chips.

"Do you want to watch a movie with me or something?" I offer trying to change the subject.

"Sure." She shrugs, hoping off the counter.

We go to my room and watch Tangled until Carter falls asleep. I'm not tired anymore though so I just lay there, thinking.
