As expected, he burst through the door of his pineapple with an urgency; only to find Gary staring with an indifferent look on his face, as always.

He let out a single "meow" to signify his distaste before slowly crawling into the other room.

Spongebob took a brief moment to catch his breath.

"Wait Gary!" He tried, before running the opposite direction into the kitchen to look for his bag of snail food. He'd taken to keeping it inside of a small pantry, but it was hard to reach due to his short stature. Patrick always broke his step-stools as well so he'd given up on buying those.

He stood on the tips of his toes; reaching the top shelf, grabbing blindly at the air until he found it. With a near-silent whoop of triumph he dragged the snail food out of the pantry and poured it into a bowl.

Once he brought the bowls out Gary was nowhere to be seen.

'For such a slow pet Gary is pretty good at running away..' Spongebob thinks to himself; calling for his pet Snail.

It ends up being in vain, Gary disappeared from the house. Spongebob checks outside his window --Already slightly panicked-- and finds Gary meowing at his buddy Patrick, who was responding conversationally.

"What do you mean your mum gae!? That doesn't make any.. Oh, Hi Spongebob!" He said, waving excitedly after noticing his approach.

"Hey Patrick! What were you doing with Gary?" He looked between the two, addled, as Gary seemed to crawl away once again.

"Oh.." Patrick huffed, immensely frustrated. "That guy..  He was so rude, he said 'My Mom had to pay' or something. I forgot."

"I hope your mother gets out of debt soon, then. See you later Patrick!" Spongebob tries to disregard the interaction before he's stopped abruptly.

"Wait Spongebob! Do you know where Squidward went?" Patrick adds.

"He's probably at home, why?"

"He usually plays his clarinet for four hours once he gets home, but I can't hear any terrible screeching noises. I even knocked on his door for 20 minutes, he didn't even yell at me to go away!" Patrick cries, concerned.

This intrigued Spongebob; it is really odd that Squidward hadn't come to chase him away and spit in his clarinet. Something was going on with his coworker, and he had to find out what!

But first, he charged after his pet snail who had already gotten a head start. He was somehow already out of breath. Gary makes up for his speed with his sneakiness, that's for sure.
