The next morning Zoe messaged Marinette.

Zoe:
I'm getting nervous. Can I meet you at your parents bakery so we can walk to the park together? I don't want to be alone with Luka before you arrive!

Marinette:
Sure! Come at 11:45 and we'll go together. And don't worry! Everything will be fine!

Zoe: Ok! Thanks! I feel better knowing that you'll be with me! See you then!

Zoe arrived at the bakery right on time.
'Nice to see you again Mr and Mrs Dupein-Chang!' Zoe said as she greeted Marinette's parents.
'Nice to see you too Zoe!' Sabine replied.
'Marinette! Zoe's here!' Tom called upstairs.
'Coming!' Marinette replied from above as she started coming down the stairs.
'Here's the food you made this morning for your picnic!' Sabine said as she gave her some bags.
'Thanks Mom!' Marinette replied.
'Hi Zoe! Ready to go?'
'Hi Marinette! Ready as I'll ever be!' Zoe replied.
'Have a good time girls!' Sabine called as they went out the door!'
'Thanks! Bye!' they said together as they left.

They started to walk over to the park together.
'I wasn't sure what food to bring, so I bought a quiche' Zoe said as she showed Marinette the small foil tray covered with plastic wrap.
'Looks delicious!' Marinette replied. 'Did you make it yourself?'
'Yeah, it was my Dad's recipe' she replied. 'He was a chef so I learnt a lot about cooking from him'
'That's so cool!' Marinette replied. 'Maybe you should do a cooking segment for the talent show! It's not just limited to musical talent you know! I know Alix said she'll be doing some skateboard tricks. If you did some cooking, the judges can all try out your creation! Namely me, because I love food and I'll be a judge!' she said as she licked her lips in anticipation.
'Oh, I get a bit of stage fright' Zoe said. 'I get nervous performing anything in front of people. I've almost fainted a few months ago when forced to do a speech in English class. If I have a hot stove in front of me, that might be dangerous!' Zoe laughed nervously.
'Oh, good point! Fair enough!' Marinette replied, feeling a little bit sad, but still looking forward to trying Zoe's delicious looking quiche at the picnic.

As they got closer to the park, Zoe started to get more nervous. She stayed quiet in case her voice started wavering.
'Marinette broke the silence. 'So...' she said. 'What is it that you first liked about Luka?'
'Oh...' Zoe began. 'W-Well, I really like the way he plays his guitar and it's like it speaks to your heart. I...I can't explain how he does it or how it makes me feel.' She could feel her cheeks getting warm but she'd put on a ton of foundation that morning to try to hide any blushes that might show because she was sure they would be noticeable for most of the picnic otherwise.

'I know exactly what you mean Zoe' Marinette replied with a smile. 'That's Luka's special gift he has. He can read people's emotions and feelings so well and play them through music'
'Wow, that explains so much!' Zoe said. But as they got closer to the park and they could see Luka with his acoustic guitar sitting at a picnic table over in the distance, Zoe began to realise something.
'Oh no...wait!' she said and stopped walking.
'What's wrong Zoe? You're not chickening out on me now girl!' Marinette replied.
'What if because of his musical gift he can read my heart and emotions and know about my crush on him?' Zoe said looking quite worried.
'Luka is really nice, he wouldn't ever be mean or tease you because of it' Marinette said and hugged her. 'Everything will be okay. Trust me.'
'Thanks Marinette. Please stay by my side the whole time okay?'
'Don't worry, I will!' Marinette said.
Luka had seen them and waved. Marinette waved back.
'Come on, he's seen us, let's go!' Marinette said and grabbed her hand.
'Okay...' Zoe replied, glad she was wearing the foundation.

'Hey Marinette, hey Zoe!' Luka said as they walked up.
'Hey Luka' they said together and smiled. Zoe could feel her heart pounding in her chest.
'I hope Luka can't hear, let alone read my heart right now' Zoe thought to herself as Luka spoke up.
'I brought some drinks for us' Luka was saying as she tried to ignore the pounding in her chest.
'That's great Luka!' Marinette said. 'Zoe has brought some lovely quiche for us and I have some macarons and chocolate croissants from my parent's bakery for dessert!'
'Sounds delicious Marinette! How did you know I love quiche Zoe? Did you make it yourself?'
'Huh? Oh, y-yes, it was my dad's recipe. I love cooking' she replied. Luka smiled. 'You should do a cooking segment for the talent show Zoe!'
'Oh, I asked her that already' Marinette replied. 'Zoe gets pretty bad stage fright and almost passes out'
'Oh that's too bad' Luka replied. 'Well I'm still looking forward to trying Zoe's delicious looking quiche!'
'Can we eat now?' Marinette whined. 'I'm starving!'
Zoe and Luka giggled at the same time and looked at each other.
'That's our Marinette!' Luka said. Zoe smiled.
They all sat down at the table and Zoe served up the quiche on some paper plates. Luka put some cans of soda on the table.
