At work the head chef told her that a food critic had heard about the improvements in the food and was going to come this Saturday night to evaluate their restaurant. This visit could make their 3.5 star restaurant into a 4 star restaurant and would mean an extra bonus in Zoe's salary. Zoe was excited! Then she remembered the talent show was on Saturday.

On her break, she texted Marinette.

Zoe: When is the talent show on Saturday?
Marinette: Saturday night at 7, why?
Zoe: Isn't Manon performing in it too? Wouldn't it be better to have it earlier in the day when she's more awake, say around 10am? 7 is probably close to her bedtime.
Marinette: That's a good point Zoe, I didn't think of that. I don't think it will be a problem to change the time, I'll let everyone know. Thanks Zoe! You're so thoughtful!

'Phew' Zoe thought. 'Crisis averted.'

The next day, Zoe slept in so she was rushing over to the Liberty.
'Sorry...I'm...late' Zoe said to Luka between breaths. 'I slept in this morning and forgot to charge my phone'
'That's okay' Luka smiled. 'You're here, that's the main thing. And my Mom and sister are here so we can perform for them! Did you want to maybe do Breakaway for them so we can keep our talent show song a surprise?' Luka smiled.
'Sure!' Zoe replied.
'How did babysitting Manon with Marinette go yesterday?'
'Oh, great! She's a bundle of energy as always! She wore us out, probably why I overslept!' Zoe replied.
'Marinette told me the change of time for the talent show and that it was your idea thinking of Manon, that's very sweet of you!' He kissed her forehead.
'Hey, what can I say, I love thinking of others!' Zoe replied.
Luka giggled. 'You sure do!'
Arnaka and Juleka greeted her.
'Hey Zoe' Juleka said softly.
'Hey Juleka!' Zoe replied.
'Zoe! Good to see ye again lassie! I hear you want to perform a song for us?'
'Yes' Zoe replied, blushing a little from nervousness but remembering her meditation techniques.
'Take all the time you need lassie, no pressure okay?' Arnaka reassured her.
'Thank you Arnaka!' Zoe said. 'But your son is an amazing person who has really helped me to become more confident performing in front of others so I'm going to give it my best!'
'That's the spirit lassie!'
Luka grabbed his acoustic guitar and they sat in the living room and Luka started playing the introduction to Breakaway. Zoe started off with her eyes closed and then opened them a little more as the song progressed and by the end they were fully open as they finished the song. Juleka and Arnaka clapped and whooped and Zoe didn't feel nervous at all! Luka came over and hugged her. 'I'm so proud of you!' he said happily as he kissed her forehead. 'Well done!'
'That was great lassie! Sounded like Kelly Clarkson was ere in person!'
Zoe blushed at the compliment.
'Thank you.'
'You'll kill it at the talent show for sure!' Juleka said.
'Thanks Juleka!' Zoe replied.
'Anyway, time for lunch!' Arnaka said.
'Oh, I forgot to bring any food to make something!' Zoe said.
'Not to worry! I got some ingredients this mornin!' Arnaka said. 'If you take requests I did buy some chicken enchilada ingredients!' Arnaka said with a hopeful look.
Zoe giggled.
'No problem, coming right up!'

After they ate they chatted for a little bit and Luka walked her back to the hotel.

'Sorry about yesterday and having to run off like that. I feel like I'm turning into Marinette!' Zoe giggled.
'That's okay, it happens' Luka replied as he kissed her goodbye.
'Well, today's Thursday so there's really only tomorrow to go for one more rehearsal before the big day!' Luka added.
'I'm actually getting excited about it now! It should be great! I'm wondering what all the others will be performing actually!' Zoe replied.
'Well my Mom has agreed to be M.C. for the show so only she has the official list of acts. Everyone wants their act to be a full surprise! I'm excited too to see what everyone else will do! I know you'll be great, if today is anything to go by!'
'Thanks Luka' Zoe blushed.
'I'll see you tomorrow at 10. I'll set an alarm so I won't be late this time!' Zoe laughed.
Luka giggled.
'See you then beautiful'
'Until the morrow my sweet!' Zoe replied.
