Leah POV
"He knows." I whipped my head around to my friend and felt my shoulders tense.
"What do you mean, 'he knows'?" I stressed. What the hell did they talk about?
"He knows something's up. Sorry." Mary cleared up.
"Thank god." I breathed a sigh of relief. Why did she word it so badly? "What did you guys talk about out there?"
She shuffled over to the fruits she was cutting before and picked up the knife to continue. "He wanted to know if you were ok. Said you were acting weird last night." I felt tense for the second time in a minute by her words. "What happened with the two of you?"
I stayed silent for a moment. "We just bumped into each other last night, and I was tired. He must've thought that something was wrong." I threw a smile over my shoulder to her. I don't know if she believed me or not, but she didn't say anything when she returned the smile and continued cutting the fruits.
We continued talking as we made breakfast while all I could feel was guilt. I'm sorry, Mary, but I wouldn't be able to handle the disappointment and sadness in your face if I told you.

"I'll see you later, Mary." I flung my bag over my shoulder and gave her a wave.
"Bye!" She waved back enthusiastically and I walked out the door.
I walked down the three steps and down the short path outside of the property. I made my way down the path to the closest bus stop and waited. About fifteen minutes later, a bus came and I hopped on. I gave the driver my ticket I got yesterday and looked for a seat. It was Saturday, so I had a free day and I needed to go to the doctor. I sat on the closest empty seat next to an elderly woman. She gave me a toothy smile which I returned before I put in my headphones.
I couldn't deal with the sleepless nights anymore, so I needed to get some more sleeping pills. If I didn't, then I would probably end up passing out while I'm cleaning, and that was the last thing I needed.
And I definitely didn't need to have a repeat of my breakdown two nights ago.
After about half an hour, I got off the bus and walked the rest of the way. I looked at some shops on the way but didn't end up finding anything that I liked. There was a really cute café though, and I bought a coffee to go.
I eventually got to the pharmacist at around 11 am and headed inside. I looked around the clean space and all of the medicines on the shelves. Afrin. Claritin. Dulcolax Liquid Laxative. Yuck.
"Ciao! Avete bisogno di aiuto?" I turned around to look at the pharmacist.
I smile. "Sí. Vendi sonniferi?"
"Hai una prescrizione del tuo medico curante?" I forgot that I needed that. The prescription pills are always stronger and more effective than the other ones.
"No, l'ho perso." I lied. The lady thought for a moment.
"Conosci il nome del tuo medico? Forse posso ottenere l'approvazione tramite il sistema." My brain froze for a moment. I was never allowed to go to the doctor because Lucas threatened me with more beatings, and if somebody found out or saw the scars, then I was in for a world of pain.
"No mi deispiace."
"Bene, allora dovrò darti qualcosa di più debole. Seguimi per favore." She led me to an aisle on the other side of the pharmacy. She scanned through the shelves before pulling a bottle that rattled at the movement.
"Il meglio che posso darti sono gli antidepressivi." She looked at me as she held the bottle of pills in question. I thought for a moment. I had to use antidepressants as an alternative for a little while before I managed to get some sleeping pills, and they worked fine. And I doubted I would become addicted to them. I made sure to never rely on them in the past.
"Va bene." I gave her a smile which she returned before we headed to the front desk.
"Saranno €32." I fished the amount needed for the pills out of my bag and gave it to her.
"Grazie e prova a prendere 10 mg a notte. Buona giornata." She handed me the small bottle of pills.
I flashed her a smile. "Grazie, anche a te." She returned the gesture before leaving to help more confused customers.
I left the pharmacy and found a bus stop and made my way back to the house.

"So, where did you go again?" I looked up from my drawing pad at Amelia who was also lying on her bed, but instead scrolling through social media.
"I went out for a walk. Felt really cooped up in here." I lied. I told Mary the same thing, so I told Amelia the same thing.
"Oh yeah." She mumbled. "We should all hang out soon. Maybe at the pool here."
My eyebrows furrowed. "There's a pool here?"
Amelia gave me a 'really' look. "There always has been. Have you ever been to the garden?" I shook my head and Amelia dropped her phone on her bed and gave me an overexaggerated gasp.
"You've never been given a job outside?" She breathed.
"Of course I've been given jobs outside; just at the front of the house though, which is why it looks spectacular." I teased and gave my hair a flip for dramatic effect. She rolled her eyes but smiled.
"Well, then tomorrow; you, me, and Mary are going to spend the day outside in the pool. We have the day off tomorrow as well, so maybe the others will join us." I hesitated at the mention of 'the others'. Sure, I wouldn't mind hanging out with Clarke, Theo, and the others, just not so much with Vlado.
Ever since that night, I've been avoiding him, and it's been unbelievably obvious too.
But the look of excitement on Amelia's face and the thought of hanging out with everyone and just relaxing sounded too good to pass up.
"Alright, I'm down." She let out a squeal and I laughed at her excitement. A couple of hours later, Amelia, me, and Mary-who finally came back from hanging out with Clarke-went to bed. I took two pills before bed in the privacy of the bathroom though.
And it felt nice to finally end a night on a good note and without the fear of waking up with tears already on my face.
