Wednesdays Megumi had his new art classes. Of course he was excited. He adored his first class and couldn't wait to go again. Now, there was a bit of a problem this week. His stepmother was coming back on Wednesday and she was expected to be greeted by him right off the bat.
It was Wednesday noon. The kids were at school leaving you all alone with Mr. Fushiguro. The man always slept in so you couldn't really talk to him about this issue for now. You had tried to ask the previous two days, but he always ended up ignoring you.
While you were preparing yourself some lunch your phone began ringing. You doubted it was your friends, since they knew about your new job and they wouldn't dare to call unless you gave them the greenlight. You looked at the unknown number for a second, deciding on what to do.
You had a rule and it was simple. If you didn't know the number, it wasn't important enough to answer. You just assumed every unknown number was a scammer. You were about to decline the call, but then remembered the kids' school had your phone number in case of an emergency so you picked up the phone.
"Hello?" You put the call on speakerphone and set the phone on the counter so you could continue preparing yourself lunch.
"Hello, may I speak with Miss L/N?" A high-pitched voice from the other side asked.
"Speaking. How may I help you?"
"Are you able to pick up your son Megumi Fushiguro? He's sick." The lady informed, and you were about to correct her but then decided not to.
"Alright, I'll be there as soon as possible." You hung up the phone and sighed as you turned off the stove. You were hungry but you had no time to eat the food you just prepared. You would have to eat it once you were back.
You put on your shoes, grabbed your purse and phone and grabbed the car keys. The chauffeur was fired by Mrs. Fushiguro. Her husband informed her about what happened and she said she wasn't about to waste money on a chauffeur since you were competent enough to drive. You felt bad for the man considering his wife was in the hospital and he ended up getting fired. You wish you could've stopped Mrs. Fushiguro, but then again you were just the nanny. It was their money and they decided on how to manage it.
The drive to the school was a short one. Mostly everyone was stopping at places to eat since it was lunch hour. You hoped that picking Megumi up would be quick since you didn't want to get stuck in traffic while everyone began driving back to their jobs.
You entered the school's office and were greeted by an old woman. She was looking at something on the computer, but she quickly turned her attention to you. She looked you up and down. She was studying every little detail about you, which made you feel uneasy.
"Uh- I'm here to pick up Megumi Fushiguro." You finally spoke up.
"So you're his new stepmother. You're quite young, but I guess that's how Toji likes them." She began and you were about to deny the claims but she was quick to speak again. "Did Toji go back to Zenin, or is he still a Fushiguro?"
"I-" She kept talking, not giving you a chance to speak.
"I'm assuming he kept the Fushiguro and that's why you kept your last name, I would also refuse to use another woman's last name." There was no end to it.
"I'm-"
"You know I'm surprised neither of the kids mentioned their parents were getting divorced, they usually have no filter. But I'm glad Megumi warmed up to you, he was always so cold to Ms. Fushiguro."
"I'm the nanny." You finally interrupted her and she raised her eyebrows.
"Oh? That's weird." She smirked.
