Omega woke up with sticky eyes and a runny nose. It was no longer raining, but the temperature was dropping as night grew nearer. Omega stood and shivered. She couldn't stay in this miserable alleyway. So, she jogged down the street and onto the main road. The celebration was over, with scattered bits of confetti and old food being the only remnants of what had been. Omega was hungry enough to eat the old food, but it was covered in mud and she figured that it couldn't be very healthy.
The air grew colder yet as the sun dipped behind the clouds. Omega's teeth were chattering now, and she wrapped her arms around her body.
She walked for what seemed to be a few miles, until a small marketplace appeared up ahead. The orange lights were warm and welcoming, and Omega figured it would be a good place to rest for a bit.
The market is was mildly crowded with people who were doing their evening shopping, but it was nothing compared to the crowds of earlier. Once again, Omega was awed by the way the townspeople interacted and by the way the sellers' items were neatly stacked in delicate rows on their shelves.
Omega was too busy taking it all in to watch were she was going.
Slam!
She crashed into someone, and the force knocked her onto her bottom. She looked up to see a tall man with silver hair and an interesting marking over his right eye. The man scowled. "Watch it!" He hissed. Omega cringed. "S-S-Sorry!" She jumped to her feet and walked swiftly away.
Omega's stomach grumbled, and she realized now that she hadn't eaten in at least 10 hours. She wouldn't last long in this state, and she didn't have any money. Plus, there are a lot of clones here. What if one of them recognizes me? Though the chances were unlikely, seeing that no one ever noticed her, Omega couldn't help but worry. I should leave this planet, but how? I could stowaway again, but I'm not sure where the shipyard is. She glanced around at the locals, when an idea popped into mind. Hmm...
Omega walked up to a particular food stand and plopped herself down on a stack of empty crates. She relaxed her shoulders and stared emptily at the ground, blending in with her surroundings. It was a skill she'd picked up on Kamino, one formed from being told to sit in a corner while Nala Se talked to some "More Important" clients.
Omega then focused on what the locals were saying. A Trandoshan was arguing with a Zeltron, and a woman talked with the storekeeper. After a few minutes, Omega finally found what she was looking for.
"Yeah yeah, the ship's only a mile or two away from here, about a 20 minute walk or so. Just get us some food and head east from here. It's right by an exchange store." Omega grinned and hopped to her feet. That hadn't been too hard.
Omega followed the directions as best she could. She headed up east main street, then took a right turn and followed the noise of ships from there. Sure enough, she ended up near an old exchange store that sat right beside a port. By that time, it was fully dark, and every noise made Omega jump.
Careful not to attract any attention, Omega climbed the tall wire fence that surrounded the space port. The inside was pretty crappy, as it was filled with trash and some things Omega wished she hadn't seen. People laughed and drank under their ships, and pirates smuggled illegal items onto their freighters. Clearly this wasn't the best of space ports.
Omega walked on, not sure what to do. The majority of the ships had people in or around them, and the rest were just plain locked.
"Hey -cough- Kid! Wanna-" The guy turned around and threw up on the ground as his buddies laughed, beyond drunk. Omega shivered and ran into the shadows. If she stayed here, she might get kidnapped. After looking for a little longer, Omega began to give up. She was tired and hungry, and the rest of the ships she saw were either falling apart or full of drunk people.
