Adrenaline ran through my body. In a bit, I would be in a restaurant having fun and celebrating with the people who matter the most to me. It was going to be great. We are going to have dinner and then when it hits midnight, we would celebrate my twentieth birthday with some karaoke.
I looked aimlessly around my room, trying to find something to wear for tonight. I still felt like shit from what happened yesterday but looking on the bright side, I didn't get a cold from staying out in the storm.
A dress that hanged in my wardrobe caught my eye. I bought it a while ago. It was a pretty lilac and it hugged your chest and then flowed out from the waist to midway down your thigh. I had never worn it before but maybe I could wear it today. Going overboard with my outfit wasn't something I planned on doing. Birthdays were never something I did much for.
I picked up the hanger with the lilac dress on it and laid it out on my bed, staring at it. Hoping that doing that would help make me my mind up if I should wear it or not.
My bedroom door burst open and I turn around. Niccolò stood at the door in just some shorts.
"Victoria, how's it going?" He walks in, shutting the door behind him as he takes a seat on my bed.
"All good. Just tryna find something to wear," I reply as I still stare at my dress, now chewing on my bottom lip confused.
"The dress you have on the bed right now would look great."
"I guess I'll wear that then. Unless I change my mind later," I say.
"How do you feel about today after everything?"
I sighed and my attention left the dress and went someplace much deeper, "I guess better. Lorenzo and I talked, and things seem fine now. I just wish it never happened. It's just going to complicate things way more."
"Things are only going to be complicated if you let them be. Now," he said as he patted the spot next to him on the opposite side of the bed. "Sit down and talk with me. Excited for tonight? You're turning twenty," Niccolò said with a smile on his face now.
"Yep, very excited. Do you know who's going to be there?" I say as I go to sit on the other side of the bed, leaning back on the bedframe and moving away from the conversation we were having moments ago.
"Me, you, Lorenzo, Alessandro and maybe Fiamma was invited."
I couldn't help but groan, "Really? She has to come? I barely even know her and now she might be there tonight."
"We could always invite some more people if you want that," He suggested now looking over at me as he swung his feet on the bed, careful not to hit the dress.
"Maybe that would be better. How about Valentina? She seemed nice."
He nodded, "Yeah she would probably come. She really likes you anyway."
"Awesome. I barely got to talk to her so it will be fun to get to know her more. Besides, then I won't have to be talking to Fiamma as much if she does end up coming."
"True that because sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but she will probably be there," Niccolò said with an apologetic look on his face.
I roll my eyes, "It's really hard right now to try and not kill the messenger."
"What! Alessandro is only downstairs, kill him instead."
"I thought you Mafia men had each other's backs," I taunted.
"We do Cherry. But Fiamma at this point is also annoying me now."
I groan, "Where are we going to go then?"
