Chapter 27: Skulk-Tech 9.9

*(Y/n)'s POV*

"So, are you going to return the test answers or not?" Sam asked, the following morning at school. We walked down the hallways together after class.

"I will!" Danny said defensively. "I will..." I glared at him and he noticed. "I'm just waiting for the right moment."

"Like, maybe after the test?" Tucker asked, and Danny glared at him.

"Tucker..." I said.

"Yeah, you're right." He mocked Danny as we walked past the teacher's lounge. "You're not thinking about cheating on a test that you're convinced will determined your future?"

"Tucker." I hissed.

Later that day, we met at Danny's house again. We sat on the floor, and Tucker hooked up the medallion to his PDA. "I can't seem to hack into it." he said. "It's really high tech."

"Yeah...Like it's from the future or something." Sam said as she loomed over it.

"Well!" Danny sighed. "Speaking of the future, I think it's time I started preparing for mine." He held up his backpack and patted it with a smile.

"You mean cheat." I said with a glare.

"I didn't say 'cheat', (Y/n)." He said.

"You didn't say 'not cheat'." Tucker said.

Danny placed a hand over his forehead out of frustration. "Guys, come on." He complained. "I would've loved to have spent the last month studying, but I was fighting ghosts! Besides, if you three think this test is so meaningless, why do you even care if I cheat?" He dug the folder out of his backpack. "Why shouldn't I open this up and study the answers, huh?" Everyone looked at me. "No answer?" He set the folder on the desk. "Well, that's all the answers I need."

"Aren't you going to say something, (Y/n)?" Tucker asked.

"I'm his best friend, not his mom." I truthfully said.

"Yeah, he wants to cheat?" Sam asked. "He can cheat."

Our jaws dropped when Danny opened the folder slightly until the room got a little bit dark. Danny gasped and we looked around. Sam, Tucker and I sighed in relief when it was a ghost.

"Phew." We said, then changed our tone sarcastically. "I mean...Oh no...a ghost!"

Danny transformed into his ghost form and attacked Skulker who swatted him away like it was nothing. "Who are you supposed to be?" He asked Skulker and what looked like Technus together.

"I am Skulk-Tech 9.9." he answered. "The future ghost world's greatest hunter!"

"With his greatest techno villain as his operating system!" Technus replied.

"Skulker and Technus together?" Danny asked.

"Is that an 'eww' or a 'yikes'?" Tucker asked, and mechanical claws came out of the battle suit.

"Definitely a yikes." I said and Danny turned invisible. He flew towards us and the claws scratched at his walls. Danny grabbed me, and Tucker, who grabbed Sam, and we turned invisible with him, yelping in fear.

Danny phased through the doorway and set us down in the closet safely.

"Say goodbye." Skulker said.

"Ghost Child." Technus said.

"Tucker, do something!" I said as we heard what was going on from the closet.

"Someone's hacking through our system, again?" Skulker asked as we heard the familiar funky ringtone. "I thought we fixed that?"

"We did!" Technus said. "It must've accidentally synced up with someone else's PDA!" They stormed out of Danny's room and we walked out.

"Wow," Tucker said as we saw him land on the floor. "I can still hack into his operating system with my handheld computer. I dunno whether that's exciting or depressing."

"Come on, you three!" Danny said, and phased through the ceiling.

"Yeah...we'll walk." I said.

*Jazz's POV*

I knew it was a bad day when Mr. Lancer called me over. "So you're saying that Danny stole the C.A.T test answers?" I asked. "But how?"

"I don't know." Mr. Lancer said. "Unless your brother suddenly gained the ability to turn invisible and reach through solid object."

I gulped, no one knew about Danny's secret but me. I needed to cover for him. "But Mr. Lancer." I pleaded. "You still have no proof Danny took the test answers!"

"Fair enough." Mr. Lancer said. "He has until the test to return the answers. Maybe you can talk to (Y/n) as well seeing as those two are around each other so often. Perhaps she's covering for him as well, and if he cheats, I won't just fail him, I'll destroy his future!"

*Danny's POV*

"What are you waiting for?" Skulker asked Technus as I chased after them. "Activate the purple-back gorilla override!"

"Don't tell me how to do my job!" Technus snapped. They kept spiraling away from me, and I fired my ghost rays at them to get them to stop. When I got them, they fell from the sky, down to the Nasty Burger and then up again. "Activating Phantom Palm Pummeler"

I got struck by a ray and they shot me again, causing me to change back to normal. Luckily, changing back was no problem at all for me and I started floating again. That felt weird. "You're shorting out my powers?" I asked.

"Indeed." Skulker said. "Pummeler might not work for you in the future, but we had a feeling it would work on you here."

"The future?"

"Ohohoho, I love it. You're much less powerful than that other Phantom we have to deal with." Technus said.

I closed my eyes tight and they struck me again with the beam of light. "What are you two talking about-!?" I screamed as I fell from the sky again, changing back to normal. I managed to grab the flag pole off the side of a building and smiled. "Wow, that flagpole thing works? Heheh, I thought for sure that would break...!"I screamed again, landing on an awning and bounced away into a pile of trash. "Guess I don't have a future of an Olympic gymnast.." I said, climbing out.

I screamed in agony once more as a mechanical arm snakes around the pile of trash. Something covered me whole and zapped me with bolts of electricity. "You don't have a future, period!" Skulker said.

"Not anymore!" Technus said.

"I wouldn't bet on that!" I heard footsteps coming nearby and Tucker's voice. I looked over to see (Y/n), Sam, and Tucker finally catching up. Tucker pressed a button on his PDA and a red, small, beam shot up at their ecto-skeleton suit. It caused them to short circuit their powers.

"Oh, poop..." They mumbled and fell from the sky. Skulker grabbed the nearest flagpole like I did.

"Wow, that flagpole thing - Ahhh!" Technus started to say, but then they fell on top of a street light. (Y/n) looked worried, and she hurried over to me. (Y/n) grabbed my hand and pulled me upright.

"Way to go, guys!" I said, and they smiled at me.

"Come on, guys." (Y/n) said as she started prying the mechanical arm that's still wrapped around my body. "Let's see if we can...get this thing off!" Sam held (Y/n) by her waist, while Tucker pulled on Sam's, and they all tried to pry it off me but it was stuck to me like glue. We heard the medallion fall to the ground, and we ended up getting teleported to a strange realm.
