"Thank you." Connie smiled, releasing my wrist.

I turned back around, moving to sit onto the couch, Connie sitting down next to me as he anxiously bounced his leg. "Look, I'm so sorry about everything. As Jean says I'm kind of a dumbass-" "Don't talk about yourself like that." I frowned.

"Well, it's true." He laughed. "I don't take offense to it either. I just... I was really excited and in a hurry to catch you before you left that night. So, I grabbed whatever was around and wrote the number I was used to which is the one I've had since I was 15." He sighed. "I removed myself from my mother's phone bill and added my younger siblings to it so she wouldn't have to pay it and because I switched plans they made me change my number... and I forgot."

"So, I had your old number?" I asked as he nodded. "Yes and I didn't even think about it til Jean reminded me yesterday. I just thought you never bothered texting me." He softly laughed.

I let out a subtle laugh, "I wouldn't do that to you." My gaze averted back to his legs, his anxious bouncing now faster than before. I let out a sigh. "Stop," I said softly, placing my hand onto his knee, stopping his jittery movements. "You don't need to feel so nervous around me."

"I can't help it." He chuckled, "Look, I'm sorry about everything and making you worry and upsetting you. I never meant for any of that to happen." He apologized, placing his hand on top of mine, butterflies instantly settling within my stomach at his gentle touch.

"It's okay." I smiled. "I'm sorry for flipping out on you in the school. I should've listened to what you had to say. I was just worked up about everything." I apologized. "I also just got really nervous seeing you again..."

"Hey, it's fine. I would've been upset if I thought you gave me a fake number too." He laughed. "But I feel we've wasted enough time." He leaned back, throwing his arm over the back of the couch. "So," he reached into the pocket of his sweats, pulling out his phone before holding it out to me. "Password's 1234."

"Wow, no one would ever guess that." I teased, unlocking the phone. It was greatly disorganized, no widgets, no files, all the apps just scattered across the screen along with multiple notifications for each one. His background was a picture of him and Jean along with some other guy with freckles and dark hair. I smiled, "who's the other one in your background?" I asked, looking back up to Connie for a moment.

"Ah, that's Marco. He's a travel nurse so he's like never around but him, Jean, and I grew up together so we're all pretty close." Connie smiled. "Now put your number in so I can text you." He motioned to the phone.

"Demanding, aren't we?" I laughed, going to his contacts before making one of my own. "Better not be some weird fan just wanting to give my number out." I narrowed my eyes in a teasing manner, handing the phone back to him. "Yeeeeeah... I don't know who would do that." He looked away, anxiously laughing. "I'm just playing." He laughed again before forcing his lips into a thin line. "Or am I?"

"Better be." I playfully warned. "Also, I'm not gonna cash that check out." I shook my head. "You really wrote it out for $600? Just to talk to me? I appreciate it but that's a lot of money. I couldn't just take that."

"Cash it, I don't mind." His hand fell from the back of the couch and to my leg, his warm palm sending chills across my skin that only grew as he used his thumb to rub soft circles. "But yes, I did." He laughed "That's also why I paid for the first private dance. I feel like here is the only place I can really get ya." He motioned around the room. "You make me feel a way I haven't felt in a while... so getting ahold of you was important." His eyes softened as he looked down at his hand sitting on me, the touch making my face grow warm because of how intimate it felt.
