“Mikan, are they…?” Thirteen trailed off but she knew exactly what she wanted to ask her.

She shook her head, not trusting her voice to be neutral by the tremor in her throat. She watched as the villains below increased in number and started walking to the stairs.

She could feel her body turned numb as her focus went to her pounding heart that was threatening to burst any minute now. Dread settling in her stomach.

This was the first time she got caught in a villain’s attack because usually she was the one who was doing the attacking. This time, she couldn’t do anything and had no idea what to do.

A part of her brain that was trained by Alexander was still alive, commanding her to turn her emotions off to avoid showing her weakness and sabotaging her own quirk.

It was demanding her to turn her old persona on. It wanted her to deal with the villains the way she was trained to. To show them that she was more superior.

Her breath ragged as she narrowed her eyes to Aizawa who grabbed and pulled his white capture weapon and it unraveled gracefully around him like a protective barrier. Her lips pulled down to a frown as her eyes shakily seek a reassuring sign from the hero but she received nothing and that caused her heartbeat to spike up.

A dull ringing echoed in her ears as her palms started to get clammy.

“There’s no way they could get into a hero school!” The spiky red head boy spoke, voice laced with apprehension.

Mikan turned to the worried and scared students behind her, her neck stretching to look at them by her shoulders. She felt Thirteen gripped her right shoulder but she didn’t give her any attention.

The ponytail girl stepped up front, her brows pulled on the center of her eyes.

“Sensei, what about the trespasser sensors?” She asked Thirteen.

“We have them, of course, but…” She trailed off.

Mikan gulped and her hands balled into shaking fists beside her body. Her emotions stirred inside her but she quickly handled it with a shaky breath. She couldn’t afford to lose control right now. They were in danger and she needed to…

She released another uneven breath, brows connected to each other and she gritted her teeth. The familiar flicker of the urge kindled within her. Her erratic heart and pulsing brain fueling the fire to grow in order for her body to follow it.

No…No…She couldn’t…She was not…She was powerless she couldn’t possibly…

She shook her head hard, she also had a fleeting thought of slapping herself but she threw that idea away. She needed to get her head in place. Being swallowed my millions of unfiltered and disarrayed thoughts would get her in trouble.

“They trampled with it,” Mikan cleared her throat to get the lump stuck inside it away. “They planned this. To get the students and teachers isolated in one place far away from the campus where pro heroes can quickly come for reinforcements.”

She faced the students with her arms wrapped around her. Her chest rising up and down in a not so normal pace and she knew her eyes were shaky.

“This surprise attack was carefully planned with some sort of goal in mind.” A dual toned hair and striking heterochromatic eyed boy spoke in an even tone.

The students looked at him different expressions plastered on their faces. Fear, nervousness, alarm, worry and wariness. They stayed silent for a few seconds until Aizawa broke it.
