CHAPTER ONE:
The shining sun beat down on Qibli's scales as he slithered throughout the Sand Kingdom. It felt so nice to be back home, on break from Jade Mountain Academy.
But everytime the SandWing dragonet thought of his school, he always thought of one dragon in particular: Winter.
Sure, he was broody & a little snappy. Maybe a lot grumpy and secretive, but he was super handsome looking.I wonder if he'll come visit me. Qibli thought, then shook his head. No, he's busy with his scavenger sanctuary thing. That would be unlikely, very unlikely. Plus it's so hot—
Qibli interuppted himself when he stumbled into Queen Thorn's throne room.
"Qibli?" The royal SandWing chirped, tilting her head towards him. "Is there anything you need?"
The dragonet's mouth gaped open sin response.
"Oh uhm," He fiddled with his talons. "Just.. I just came to check on you."
Qibli's eyes flicked up to look at Her Majesty. Thorn narrowed her eyes at him, then waved her talons dismissively.
"Fine then." She grinned. "Oh! Also, there's a letter for you from a few of your friends. Also, are you sure you don't want to go back to Jade Mountain?"
All these words bunches up at once confused Qibli, so he focused on what Her Majesty said about the letters.
"Letters?" The dragonet narrowed his eyes, thinking of who exactly would send him letters. "From whi exactly?"
Thorn fished around in the pile of letters besides her throne, pulling out three letters: one green, one white and one was pink.
Qibli wrinkled his nose at the sight of the pink letter. Why did it look like a love letter? But then his heart jumped and he hurried to grab the letters out of Thorn's grasp. Is the pink letter from Moon? Qibli fiddled with the letters. Is she confessing her love to me? Because if so I will totally fly to the rainforest right now and tell her I love her too.
"Oh u-uhm—" Qibli cleared his throat, looking up at his Queen. "Thank you, Thorn."
"Of course." And with a majestic dip of her head, the Queen returned to her royal duties.
Qibli slipped into his room. He held the letters close to him as he carefully & quietly walked towards his window.
Setting down the letters on the ground besides his back talons, the dragonet opened his white curtains to let the light filter through.
Smiling a little, Qibli picked up the pink letter and carefully opened it.
To his dismay, it was from Winter.Dear Qibli,
I know what you're going to think: "Why would Winter send this in a pink letter?" Am I right? WELL BECAUSE IT'S ALL I HAD.
Anyways, my scavenger sanctuary is going to have it's grand opening in two days and I'd like to have you here to see it.
Please arrive the day you get this letter!Best of wishes, Prince Winter
Qibli ran a careful talon over the letter. Okay so, what if it wasn't from Moon? Qibli still felt the same heart racing when Winter even crosses his mind. And the same flushed feeling in his face.
I'll go! Qibli thought. He was determined to make Winter happy, no matter how he did it. I want to see how his scavengars are doing. I hope he's taking care of them. I especially like that one, what was her name? Like, Kat, or something?
Qibli shook his head to clear the his rushing thoughts. He looked around the room, brushing the other two letters aside with his wings.
He'll just have to read those later. But right now? Qibli grabbed his earring, poking the wire through his earring hole in his ear. Then he reached for the band that he made for his horn, to hold his Sky Fire. His talons hovered over it for a moment.
Should I? Will Moon be there? If she is... then I definitely should. Qibli grabbed the horn-band, securing it around his left horn.
It was gold with three slots in it for his Sky Fire, the biggest piece was in the middle, obviously, with two other smaller pieces placed next to it.And like that, Qibli opened the delicate glass doors to his balcony. He spread his wings and with a single, gracefully sweep of his wings, the SandWing set off into the air.
He would head towards the rainforest. To see Winter's scavenger sanctuary.
To see Kat.
But one word was always in the back of his head, fighting it's way to the front;
Winter.
