"What do you think?" Winn was sitting in one of the dining room chairs surrounded by a lot of fabrics and colors. Lar and I stood by his side, listening to everything he explained.
"I think the combination of colors I asked for is very nice and I love how you combined it. I love it." I admit, smiling at my friend. "Do you like it, Lar?"
"Yes, it reminds me of home." Lar looked at me first and then he looked at the drawing that Winn had made. I liked that he still remembered things about Argo, but at the same time I was sad that he knew he couldn't go home anymore.
"I'm glad you both like it because as it was the design I liked the most I made it. So. . ." Winn got up and pulled out of the suitcase he had brought to carry all the fabrics a cover with the suit he had shown me on paper. "Here's your new super suit."
"Seriously?" I couldn't believe that in just one day he'd have time to make a suit like the one he was showing me.
"Sure. All yours." I picked up the suit and went to my room to try it on. It was really comfortable. The dark blue top stood out very well with the red skirt, cape and boots. But I was missing something. I left my room and went to the dining room. Winn smiled when he saw that he had made the right design and Lar started clapping and laughing.
"I love it. It's also very comfortable."
"But. . . ?" I had known Winn for six months but he was one of the people who knew me best.
"Can I ask you one last thing?"
Hours later Winn finished with the last detail I had asked for. Now that I saw it finished, I felt that that suit was a part of me. From my family's legacy. I didn't want Lar to know what it was because I wanted to surprise him.
"Supergirl's S. I hadn't thought of that." Said Winn.
"It's not Supergirl's S." Lar replied. Winn looked at him and was surprised at his answer.
"This is the symbol of the house El, our family." I explained. "On Krypton every family had a badge to represent them, and in our case it is this."
"El Mayarah" Said Lar.
"Wow, that makes it even more important. What. . . What does El Ma. . . ?"
"El Mayarah." I finished saying. "Stronger together."

Winn stayed for lunch but then left because he had an emergency at Catco. He left me the suit to wear the next time I had to go out and help someone. Lar and I decided to go for a walk in National City, to keep getting acquainted with the city. At first we walked silently, each one absorbed in our thoughts, but Lar finally spoke.
"Can I ask you something, Mommy?"
"Sure."
"Do you remember Daddy's voice? And Kal and Grandma's?" That question tore me to pieces. My dreams were so real that it was inevitable to keep hearing their voices, as I remembered them. But Lar was very young and maybe his memories were very blurry and he was beginning to forget big details of his past life.
"Sometimes I hear them. Especially when I sleep. But sometimes I hear them from far away and it's very hard to tell. Don't you hear them anymore?" Lar shook his head. We stood up and sat on a bench. "Even if that happens to you and you miss them so much, we have to remember that, even if it's harder and harder to remember how they were, they'll always be here." I touched him on the chest, next to his heart. Then I searched my purse for the wallet. When I found it, I took the picture out. "I always kept this picture in Argo. Here's Daddy, Grandma, Kal, you when you were born and me." Lar looked at the photo carefully, looking each face.
"How little I was." He joked, and I gave a giggle.
"You've grown so fast. Too much." I stroked his hair. "Take it, you keep it so when you miss them so much you can look at the picture and know what they looked like."
"No." I looked at him. "Can we put it at home? Somewhere we can both see it. So you can see them when you miss them too." I smiled and nodded, proud. We went on with the walk and had an ice cream on the way home, but before we got there my phone ringed.
"Alex, what's going on?"
"Hi, Kara. Can you come by my house? Then we can order some dinner because I know it's a little late for Lar."
"Sure, we'll be there in 10, 15 minutes."
"Perfect. See you." We hung up and walked to Alex's apartment. We arrived 10 minutes later, as we were close.
"Hi, Alex!" Lar saluted right after the door opened.
"Hi, Lar. How are you?" Alex came up to him and hugged him.
"Good." He shruged his shoulders and went into the apartment. Alex looked at me, wondering if everything was okay. I answered her with another look, telling her that everything was fine, only that he had a bad day. Alex and I hugged and went into the apartment, too.
"What's going on? Is everything all right?" I left my coat on the side of the sofa and the three of us sat down.
"Yes, it's nothing important. More like organization. I spoke to Winn and he said he made you a suit." I nodded, smiling. "You'll show me later." She smiled back at me. "But I've been talking to J'onn about something we haven't fully valued and that's Lar."
"What's wrong with me?" Lar looked at us curiously.
"Of course, I didn't take that into account. At Argo, you could leave the kids alone at home because we had robots that made sure nothing happened to them. But it's different here."
"Exactly. That's why J'onn has provided me with a very useful tool for times when you have to leave home and Lar is left alone." Alex got up and picked up a bracelet from the table. "This is for you, Lar." He looked up and looked at the bracelet carefully.
"How does this work?" I asked her.
"When you have to go, Lar just have to press this button and he will be teleported to the DEO, to a room we have prepared for him."
"Really? This is wonderful, Alex. Thank you."
"And will I be able to bring my toys?" Lar asked the most important question.
"I spoke to J'onn and he said anything you want as long as it's not bigger than the room." Lar smiled.
"We'll take a few, but not all the toys you have or you won't have at home otherwise." I stroked his hair and Lar hugged me first and then Alex.
"But this isn't the only thing I wanted to show you." She took a box and pulled out a glass, which I recognized at once. I looked at my sister with watery eyes. I couldn't believe it was saved on the pod we came on. "As you know, at the DEO we've been working on the study and restoration of the pod you came on. It's been a very difficult and long job, but the other day we found this stone. At first we thought it was a simple Argo rock, but when we studied it, we realized the information it contained."
"It's a pre-recorded message from our family." I followed. Lar didn't quite understand what was going on and looked at us, expectantly.

*Three years ago, Argo*
"Mom, is it necessary? We're fine here, everything seems to be working." I told my mother back.
"I want us to do it. You never know what might happen and we better be prepared." She answered me.
"I've never seen anything like it. In Daxam, we weren't as advanced in science as you were on Krypton." Mon-El took the crystal and watched it carefully.
"It was one of Zor-El's last inventions and thanks to him I can still remember him. We can remember him." Said as she looked at me.
"Well, we'll do it. That's all right. But I don't want to think that this is to have a family memory in case someone's missing one day." In the end I agreed, because it wasn't a bad idea, especially after what happened on Krypton.

"You can take it and watch it quietly at home, in case you're not prepared." Alex said, as she gave me a small squeeze on the shoulder.
"If Lar wants, we can see it here. You're the closest thing we have to a family on Earth, and I want you to meet our family." I smiled at her, because I really felt the words I had just said to her and I felt prepared to share that last memory of my family with Alex. "Do you want to watch it with Alex, Lar?"
"Yes!"
Alex smiled at me and put the crystal into some kind of device and a hologram appeared out of nowhere. It was Alura.
