Summer had come and went. Games were played (albeit very few), days were spent, and today was the day to say goodbye to the older players.
The whole team had met out in the buzzing streets. Daichi, Sugawara, Asahi, and Kiyoko were at least a little emotional. Kageyama was looking around.
Where is Hinata?
He dismissed it. Maybe he got lost. He does that a lot. "IM GONNA MISS YOU GUYS!" Tanaka sobbed, hugging Asahi tightly. "ME TOO!" Nishinoya wipes his nose and cried. This made Asahi cry more and hug them both. "I promise I'll keep in touch! I promise with all my heart!"
"So you're gonna be a teacher?" Ennoshita asked Sugawara. He nodded sadly. "I'm seriously gonna miss you guys." He spotted Kageyama and tears weltered in his eyes. "Suga- San?" Kageyama jogged over. "What happened??"
"I'm...well, I think our time together is over. We both taught each other a lot." Sugawara bit his lip and covered his eyes. "No, no no we'll still talk won't we?"
"I'm surprised you want to."
Kageyama pat Sugawara's shoulder. "I promise, I'll make Karasuno great." He paused. "I mean we. We won't let you guys down."
"Yeah!" Nishi cheered, still crying. "I can't believe we're all third years now.." Ennoshita said. Daichi smiled at him. "You're going to be a great captain." He hugged the now third year tightly with one arm and whispered thoughtful things as Ennoshita started to cry. Even Kageyama was touched; he would miss these people.
Yachi was a mess. She was hugging everyone. Kiyoko wiped her eyes and hugged the younger girl. "You have my number, you can always call me." Yachi nodded and sniffled. "I'll be the best manager Karasuno has ever seen!"
"I know you will," Kiyoko complimented sweetly. Nishinoya was pushing Tanaka over to the ex- manager while snickering.
Kiyoko faced the two boys. Tanaka cleared his throat. "Thank you for being our manager and putting up with us."
The rest of the team bowed. "Thank you!!" Kiyoko took off her glasses and let a single tear fall down her angelic face. "We're gonna miss you Kiyoko!" Nishinoya wailed. "I'll miss all of you too." She got closer to Tanaka. "And...I wanna hang out sometime." She sweetly kissed Tanaka's cheek and backed up, trying to control her emotions.
Ennoshita started laughing at Tanaka's blank stare. "Dude! Look at your face!" Sugawara laughed with him as well. It was all bittersweet. "You promise you'll visit?" Nishinoya begged Asahi. "I'll text you everyday." He proposed. Nishinoya hugged the taller man tightly and sniffled. "Thank you for being our ace, Asahi."
"No," Asahi bent down, "thank you for believing in me, Yū."
"Stop I'm gonna cry again," Sugawara hugged Daichi and laughed wetly.
Even though it was all good, there was a small thing missing.
"Guys," Tanaka suddenly said, looking at his phone. "Shoyo texted."
Kageyama got closer to read it.
Sorry! I'm in the hospital. I wish I could see all of you!
The...hospital? Hospital?? The setter's eyes widened. Hinata was in the hospital...
"Is he okay? Did he say what for?" Suga read the message as well. "No," Tanaka answered anxiously. The now third and second years looked at each other. Was Hinata okay?
"Should we go see if he's okay?" Daichi suggested. The group agreed and were on their way to the hospital.
