~Samara's POV~
A couple of days passed before I got another call from Poppy, thankfully on my day off, this time. I usually only worked on Monday's, Tuesdays, and Wednesday's because I got paid so well, despite how little work I actually had to do. Some days I would have to restock items, sure, but that was usually the most strenuous work I ever had to do, so I had it pretty well.
I was driving home after getting groceries when I got her call, a huff leaving my lips as I accepted the call and put it on speakerphone whilst I drove. "What's up, Poopy?" I greeted, using the nickname I had given her since we were in the tenth grade, when we met. That was when she had given me the nickname Sammy, which I hated, so I had given her the nickname Poopy in return, only because she hated it. "Don't call me that!" She whined immediately, causing me to grin, my eyes glancing in the rearview mirror before I turned onto my street to make sure nobody was behind me. "You call me Sammy all the time but I put up with it. This is fair." I responded, slowly pulling into the parking lot of my apartment complex.
Poppy huffed. "You literally call me Poopy! At least my nickname is a real name!" She complained, causing me to snicker softly as I unloaded my groceries and began to lug them up to my apartment. "Anyway, what were you calling about?" I asked after I had finally managed to bring in all of my groceries, kicking my front door shut with my foot before I locked it and then began to put everything away.
"Oh, right. I almost forgot." She said, seeming to remember that she had called me for something. "I was calling to ask if you wanted to hang out. Elias and Sterlyn wanted to have a movie night tonight, so I figured I'd invite you. It's Friday, after all, and we haven't spoken very much because of our different schedules and I haven't seen you in a few days. Please?" She asked hopefully, a small smile forming on my face at her efforts. I always really appreciated that she went out of her way to invite me to things, especially because she obviously knew by now how antisocial I was. Poppy was basically my only friend, but she always tried her best to include me, and I appreciated that endlessly.
"Movie night?" I repeated, plopping down on my couch. I wasn't exactly dressed very nice, though I had done my makeup for the day out of habit. Even on days where I just lounged around in pajamas, I liked to do my makeup simply for the sake of feeling good about myself. So even though I'd gone to the grocery store wearing makeup, I had also gone there wearing my pajamas. That was just how I was. "What kind of movies?" I asked.
"Unh-unh." She refused, causing me to huff. "You can come over first and then you'll see. We're at my place." She told me, not willing to tell me. I had kind of expected her to do something like that, so I wasn't very surprised.
"Fine." I sighed out, running a hand through my hair as I stood up from my couch. I heard her giggle excitedly and I huffed, hanging up the phone before I headed into my room to get changed, pulling on a simple black dress and a cute oversized dark teal colored cardigan, shoving my feet into a pair of black Doc Martens. Getting dressed wasn't something I felt like doing right now, so I just kept it pretty simple with this outfit, grabbing my purse and shoving my phone into it before I left with my keys in hand.
I drove over to Poppy's apartment, parking in the driveway of her small, cute townhouse before I let myself inside since I knew that she was waiting on me to get there. Not to my surprise, she'd left the door unlocked for me, so I was sure to lock it when I entered.
"Sammy!" I heard Poppy exclaim as soon as I entered, not even having seen me yet somehow she still knew that it was me. I strolled my way into her living room, where I found her sitting with both Sterlyn and Elias. A small smile formed on my lips as my gaze landed on her thin figure, watching as she shot up from the couch and practically flung her tall figure onto my shorter one, wrapping her long arms around me. "Sammy, Sammy!" She exclaimed happily. "I'm so glad you're here." She told me, placing a kiss on my cheek.
