~Samara's POV~
On Monday, I woke up early again to get ready to go to work, or it was early for me, at least. I groaned as I rolled out of bed, my black and purple streaked hair a mess upon my head. The roll I did out of bed was one that just made my hair more messy, causing it to become slightly more messed up upon my head.
My shower was pretty quick as I had shaved last night, and once I got out I began to get dressed in a pair of casual black ripped skinny jeans, a cropped white and black colored sweater covering me whilst I wore my normal black styled Doc Marten boots on my feet. Though I usually left my hair down, I decided to tie my hair up in a bun on my head, some of the strands that were too short left down to frame my face. I stretched my arms over my head as I plopped down in front of my vanity, getting comfy in the fluffy white chair.
After I did my makeup I swiped on a little deodorant and spritzed on a small amount of perfume, grabbing my purse with my phone and keys before I left my apartment. I arrived at work rather quickly, parking my car in the lot before I headed inside, setting my purse beneath the counter top.
There weren't many of my coworkers around from what I could see, so I assumed that a lot of them either had later shifts or perhaps just weren't working today. For a while I just sat behind the cash register, kicking my dangling legs absentmindedly as I played games on my phone. Allsaints was empty, not very surprisingly since it was a Monday and it was also rather early in the day. People normally would start to show up towards the end of the day, if they did at all, or around lunch hours.
However, it was about four PM when a familiar face came walking in the front door, the sight of Elias' face making me want to duck down out of sight. I was the only one who was working, though, so I knew if I left the checkout counter when nobody else was around I'd definitely get in trouble, regardless of how cool my bosses were. As my eyes followed his large figure whilst he walked around, looking at the men's section of clothes and shoes, he suddenly turned his head and our gazes met. The surprise that flashed across his face made it obvious that he hadn't been expecting to see me here, as he didn't know that I worked here.
Elias narrowed his blue eyes at me and set the necklace in his hand back where he had found it, looking at me as if I was some kind of stalker. I raised my brows at him, giving him a sassy what do you want look. He began to head over to me, taking long strides that made it very easy for him to cross the store in seconds. Because he was so much taller than I was I had to tilt my head back a little bit to look him in the eye, even though he and I were on opposite sides of the counter. "What are you doing here?" He asked, crossing his muscular arms over his broad chest. I cocked up a brow and leaned against the counter. "Well, I'm behind the counter, so...what do you think I'm doing here?" I retorted, the sass I gave him making him glare at me slightly.
"I've been here tons of times and have never seen you working." He told me, only causing me to stare at him silently. Cocking my head to the side, I gave him a flat look. "It's not like I try to be here when you are." I snorted, watching as he narrowed his gaze at me. "And if I weren't the only one working right now, I'd probably have hid in the back room until you left." I added.
He raised a brow and leaned against the counter. "You thought of that pretty quick." He stated, to which I simply shrugged my shoulders and fiddled with the fabric of my sweater. "Why did you come to talk to me? Were you hoping I'd start arguing with you or something?" I asked him, giving him a look of suspicion.
"Just wanted to make sure you weren't stalking me or anything." He responded, causing a snort of amusement to leave my lips. I wore a smile on my lips, not bothering to hide the look of pure amusement that formed on my face. "Stalking you? You think that I would stalk you?" I laughed, finding the mere suggestion deeply amusing. "If you think that's even a slight possibility, then you're even more of an idiot than I thought." I stated, not surprised when he scowled at me for the blatant insult.
"Idiot?" He echoed, placing his large hands atop the counter and leaning towards me over the countertop between us. I cocked up a brow, staring up at him as his face neared mine. "If you think I'm an idiot, then what are you?" He taunted, and I knew that he was only trying to start up another argument, but I couldn't afford to get into an argument with him at work. Regardless of the fact that I knew him and we hated one another, I was still at work and he was still considered a customer first. If one of my bosses came in whilst I was in the middle of insulting and arguing with one of our potential customers, I'd probably be fired right on the spot.
So I just leaned closer, which I could tell caught him off guard because of the slight surprise that flickered through his eyes, and lowered my voice to a whisper when I spoke. "I'd go back to shopping or whatever it is you were here to do before I say something I shouldn't." I advised him softly.
For a moment he just looked at me, his narrowed eyes trained on mine, but he then leaned away and, surprisingly enough, actually did as I'd advised.
